Favourite Summer Outfits

New post today!!!!! Woo Hoo!!!!!!!! If you follow me on Instagram, yesterday you got a sneak peak into today’s post. Since Summer still is in full swing here, I wanted to recap my favourite looks and items of the Summer. I owe today’s post to my wonderful husband, who made breakfast yesterday so I could blog, before we had to tackle some chores, shopping and a bbq at a friend’s place.

By far my favourite purchase and most beloved item of the Summer has to be my denim vest. At first I was reluctant to buy it. Wasn’t sure if I would get enough use out of it. Was I ever wrong!!! I wore it so much. It’s such a great layering piece over anything: dresses, skirts, shorts and the perfect completer piece. On Saturday I wore it to the zoo with shorts and a tank top, again can be seen on Instagram.

The next item that I couldn’t get enough of is dresses. Long or short, I wanted to wear them as much as possible, considering all I pretty much wear in the Winter are pants. Definitely my favourite style of dress is the Maxi dress. It’s elegant, simple, light and easily dressed up.

Shorts were also another favourite of mine, especially my cuffed denim ones and my printed ones. As you can see, a theme is emerging with my Summer outfits: denim vest!!!!! Like I wrote earlier, I just couldn’t get enough of it. Again like with the dresses, shorts also have a short life span here in Vancouver so I tried to wear them as much as possible. I loved wearing them with a top and blazer.

Last but certainly not least I can’t forget to mention my love of skirts. Over the years, I’ve acquired quite the collection. The sample below is only a fraction of the skirts I own. I love pairing them with a tank top and some bling. One of my favourite outfits, turned out to be one that I had never worn before. My striped skirt with a sleeveless polka dot blouse and my wedges. Sometimes experimenting pays off. I’m looking forward to wearing this combination more next Spring/Summer.

Which one is your favourite look? Gotta say it’s a tie between the polka dot blouse and striped skirt and my tulip dress and denim vest.

Graphic Tee 2 Ways

When I was at the Vancouver Top Mom Blogger’s celebration a few weeks ago, I saw this quote on a t-shirt and it immediately made me think of myself and my husband. He is always telling me that I need to believe in myself and stop selling myself short, but it’s hard. Wearing this shirt reminds me that we all feel the same way. We are all battling with insecurity, self-image, self-love, etc. I love that when I wear this shirt, people stop and tell me how much they like the message. We all need to start believing in this, because this quote is true. So the next time you find yourself kicking yourself or doubting yourself, remember this quote and remember that we all feel this way.

This graphic tee has quickly become one of my favourite t’s to wear. What I like about it, besides the message is how versatile it is. I wore it with skinny jeans, red blazer and statement necklace to a friend’s son’s birthday and I also wore it with leggings and a denim vest. I like the fit, style, definitely the message. Graphic tee’s aren’t just for a casual look. Try dressing it up with a gorgeous statement necklace, blazer, and heels or pair it with your favourite maxi skirt and denim vest. I’m back!!!!! I took the past few days off because honestly last week’s craziness finally caught up to me. Now I’m back with a great post on styling a denim vest 3 ways and with my weekly Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

When I was doing my building your Summer wardrobe series, I fell in love with the denim vest. At first I wasn’t sure how to style it and if I would be able to get my money’s worth, but let me tell you, the denim vest is like a cardigan or blazer. It’s the perfect completer piece. You can style it over a dress, over a simple t-shirt with leggings or over a t-shirt and maxi skirt. The possibilities are endless. It’s the perfect Summer wardrobe staple. Below are 3 ways I styled my denim vest:

As you can see a denim vest is a great alternative to a jean jacket, cardigan or blazer. It’s a neutral, basic piece that is easily incorporated into your wardrobe.

Striped Maxi Skirt 5 Ways

I can’t get enough of my maxi skirt. I love that it’s long and so versatile. You can wear it with a sweater on a cold day, tank top and cardigan and sandals another, or add a chambray shirt over it. The possibilities are endless. I first discovered them last year and I love them. They are the perfect skirt that every woman should have in her closet. It’s perfect for the busy mom on the go. Just throw it on with a t-shirt and vest and you’re ready to go. Perfect, effortless look.

Pink Linen Blazer 2 Ways

I fell in love with this pink/blush linen blazer from Banana Republic. When I saw it, I knew it would be the perfect blazer to transition me from Winter to Spring to Summer. The only down side is that it wrinkles very easily, but otherwise it’s perfect. I never used to like the colour pink, don’t know why, but I honestly hated it. I am finding that as I’m getting older, I tend to be drawn to pink things. Who knew getting older would make me appreciate the colour pink more !!!!

I know that you guys are well aware that I absolutely love blazers and they are the perfect completer piece to any outfit. If you are stumped for what to wear, throw on a t-shirt, skinny jeans, add flats, a statement necklace and a blazer to finish off your look. This is definitely my go-to outfit when I’m stumped as to what to wear. Blazers don’t have to be boxy or make you feel like you work in an office. When I wear blazers, I feel more put together, yet still feeling not overly dressed up. Below are 2 ways that I’ve worn this fabulous blazer.

I’m so excited for shorts season to finally begin. The weather here has been taunting us. Mother Nature gives us a couple of gorgeous days, and then takes it back and gives us cold and the rain. But ever the optimist, I’m hoping that in a few weeks the warm weather will be here to stay. When I think of Summer, I think of shorts. I think of getting my pasty white legs tanned. I love that shorts come in all shapes, sizes and lengths. Gotta say that I’m kind of liking the short shorts, not the Daisy Duke kind, but the ones that still flatter those of us that are over 30 and are mothers. Below are 5 different ways I styled shorts.

Pink, Stripes & Pangea Giveaway

One of my favourite blazers is this peachy pink one from Banana Republic. I can’t get enough of it. I love wearing it with a white top, skinny jeans, statement necklace and my striped loafers. I’m really looking forward to pairing it with some dresses and shorts once this weather finally warms up.

In the past 6 years I’ve made a conscious effort to try and minimize the amount of chemicals my family and I ingest, from make up, to every day household cleaning products, to beauty products to food. Sometimes it’s harder to find affordable, chemical free products and Pangea Organics is a great option.

I’ve teamed up with Pangea Organics Canada to giveaway their fabulous Canadian Pine with white sage Hand Soap and Egyptian Fennel with grapefruit and sweet orange lip balm. It’s just the right amount pine scent and it’s a nice alternative to the normal lavender scented ones I usually buy. I like that it doesn’t dry out your hands and it comes out in the form of foam. Their lip balm is an interesting combination of scents: fennel, grapefruit and orange. I like that it’s bigger than the traditional size of lip balm. I find that it leaves your lips not sticky or too shiny and that it conditions your lips so that they feel nice and soft.

To Mix Prints Or To Not Mix Prints & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

So the title of my post may be a bit confusing, since I love mixing prints. I’m just not sure about mixing these 2 prints. I bought this window pane printed sweater in the Fall and I was looking at the different ways I could style it. I was planning on wearing it with printed pants, but the weather was totally not cooperating, so I opted on wearing them with my skinny jeans. I decided to take a picture and see what you guys think. Would you wear the window pane sweater with these printed pants?
