1 Dress: Spring To Winter

I bought this dress last Spring and I’m always looking at how to carry clothes from one season into the next. So the next time you look at your shift dress and are sad that it’s too cold to wear, think again. Add a pair of tights, turtleneck sweater and boots and you’re set to go. Check out how I styled my polka dot shift dress to go from Spring to Winter.

Happy Black Friday and Weekend Everyone!!!!! We are taking my son to see Disney on Ice on Saturday. He doesn’t know yet and I can’t wait until he see’s the princesses on the ice. Someone is going to lose his mind :)!!!!

What To Wear Shopping & Black Friday Deals

I wore this outfit on Monday to take my son to gymnastics and I thought this would be the perfect outfit to go Christmas shopping in. I recently went shopping with a friend and I wore my large wool coat. It was cumbersome, heavy and much too warm. This would have been a better outfit to wear. The next time you go shopping, which I’m sure will be in the next few days, try wearing a simple white long sleeve t-shirt, layer a great sweater or cape, comfy skinny jeans and boots. I would also bring a bigger purse that doubles as a crossbody bag. It enables you to pack water, your wallet, your many shopping lists, and can be carried easily across your body.

Black Friday Deals: Vodka Infused Lemonade

I’m not one to head down to the States and face the chaos of Black Friday shopping. I would rather stay at home and hit the local malls. So I’ve included some Black Friday deals starting Nov 29 and run until Dec 1.

Click here to see all the deals at Coquitlam Center. Coquitlam Center will open at 9am Friday Nov 29 and some stores will open as early as 7am. Which is good for me because that gives me more time to get my Christmas shopping done while my son is at preschool!!!!!! :)

Stella & Dot: 25% off sale items

Children’s Place: up to 50% off entire store

Jacob: 40% off entire store

Guess: 30% off reg. priced items

Old Navy: 50% off entire store

RW & Co.: BOGO 50% off

Chapters: Buy 3 get the 4th for free

J Crew: 30% off

Eddie Bauer: 40% off entire store

H&M: up to 25% off entire purchase

Body Shop: get 3 for $30

Gap: 40% off entire store

Bath & Body Works: Buy 3, Get 3 Free

Banana Republic: 40% online all day on Nov 29

These are only some of the deals. Check out your local flyers for more deals.

May this blog inspire you to wear something comfortable while you do your Christmas shopping. What I mean by comfortable is not Lululemon Yoga pants. A great pair of jeans, simple t-shirt, a great sweater and boots and you’re set. It takes no more effort to put together this outfit together then it does to put on your sweatpants, plus you’ll feel a lot better about yourself. And I’ve done all the work for you, because I’m sure you’ve got a pair of jeans, white t-shirt and sweater in your wardrobe already and if not then it’s time you got some.

Leather Top & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

A friend of mine was wearing this fabulous leather/tweed top from Guess and I fell in love with it. Luckily for me, my friend knows the manager of Guess, and they were able track down the top for me and have it transferred in. I tried it on and it fit perfectly. I decided to wear it out for a shopping day with a friend recently. I think I’m starting to develop a small leather obsession :)!!!!

Booties & Boyfriend Jeans

Since Winter has arrived, my boyfriend jeans have taken a back seat. I thought it would be a nice outfit to pair my boyfriend jeans with my booties. I thought that my boyfriend jeans would hit just at the top of my boots and then my legs wouldn’t be bare. That’s not quite how it worked out, I had about a 3 inch gap between my pants and the boots, so my legs were a bit cold. I’m willing to suffer a bit for fashion. So ladies if you’re sad that your boyfriend jeans are growing dust bunnies on them, try pairing them with a great boot.

You guys are all well aware that I’m a huge fan of Oprahs!!! I’ve written a few posts about seeing her live. Click here to read about our amazing trip to Chicago to see one of her shows and click here to read about when she came to Vancouver last year. So it will come as no surprise that I picked Oprah as this week’s celebrity style.

We’ve seen Oprah’s style change over the years. She’s gone from doning suits to sweaters to cardigans to everything in between. I don’t think there is a person on television who’s hair style has changed more than hers. Gotta say my favourite hair style is when she wore her hair short and curly. We’ve all watched her weight go up and down but no matter what her weight is, Oprah always looks amazing.

One of Oprah’s favourite items to wear are sweaters. Since Christmas is just around the corner, I thought it would be nice to feature some great sweaters for the holidays.

Sweaters

Oprah: Vodka Infused Lemonade

In the last few years of her show, Oprah said that she is done with suits and decided to go for a softer looks wearing cardigans and sweaters. I like that although Oprah kept it simple with cardigans and sweaters, she wore luxurious and colourful ones. The holidays are a great time to infuse some colour into your wardrobe by adding a fabulous bright and/or sparkly sweater to your wardrobe.

Baby It’s Cold Outside, Perfect For A Cloche Hat!!!

Our typical Fall consists of insane amounts of rain. Thankfully this Fall has been unseasonably dry. This past week the cold has hit, now this is nothing new for me considering I grew up in cold Alberta. I have to say I do miss the days where although it may be -20C, at least the sun is shinning. This week reminds me of Alberta. The last 2 mornings have yielded lots of ice, scraping of the windows and warming up of the cars. I’ve been bundled up in my warm wool Winter coat, boots and scarf the past few days. I thought today is the perfect day to wear my cloche hat. I purchased it last year and I love it. Totally reminds me of the 20′s. I love the way women used to dress. I would have loved to have dressed in those times.

Leather Leggings, Baby Shower Cake & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

I just wanted to remind you all that since American Thanksgiving falls on Thursday Nov 28, I will be hosting next week’s Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up on the day before, Wednesday Nov 27.

This week has been exceptionally cold and I thought that I need to get more use out of my leather leggings. Click here to see the post where I styled it 6 different ways. I have to say that these leggings are extremely comfortable and I thought that I might feel weird wearing them running errands, but I didn’t. I kept it casual by pairing my leggings with a white t-shirt, cardigan, statement necklace, flats and scarf. Leather leggings are a great alternative to your normal cotton ones. So moms the next time your headed out, think about adding some leather leggings to your wardrobe :).

1 Dress 4 Ways

I bought this dress back in September and immediately fell in love with the cut and style of it. It’s simple, versatile and I love the fact that it has pockets. You can style it with a simple statement necklace and a leather jacket or go more preppy layering a button top underneath it and adding a blazer or just throw a boyfriend sweater over it. You can add a belt, but I didn’t think of that until just now :) While I was trying it on the sales associate pointed out that layering a button top underneath it would be another great way to wear it. Hence how today’s post came to be: 1 Dress, 4 Ways!!!!!!

Boots, Boots & More Boots

As you all are well aware, I love boots!!! I especially love booties and am thrilled that they are everywhere for Fall!!!! They are versatile and are a great alternative to the typical boot. I love how you can style boots with everything: with a simple t-shirt and cardigan, wear it with a dress or skirt or some great trousers and a blazer for a night out. Below are some different ways I’ve worn boots on my blog.

This week’s celebrity style is the First Lady (FL) Michelle Obama. Setting politics aside (I’m Canadian) you have to give her credit for her amazing sense of fashion. (FL) Michelle Obama not only has an amazing eye for fashion, she is smart, beautiful and an empowering and inspirational person. I like that while her husband is running the country, she is trying to get more kids/people active and eating healthy. I respect her for trying to motivate this generation to be healthier.

One of Michelle Obama’s staple looks is pairing a cardigan with a pencil skirt. She likes to wear bright colours with texture and shine. I decided for this week’s celebrity style to feature some fabulous cardigans and pencil skirts, perfect just in time for the Holidays.

Cardigans

(FL) Michelle Obama keeps it simple by adding a fabulous printed or brightly coloured cardigan over a dress or a pencil skirt. She is basically preaching to the choir, considering I love cardigans. I like that she doesn’t just stick to simple neutral ones, she likes bright bold colours. Cardigans are extremely versatile and Michelle Obama is a great example of how it can infuse some colour into your outfit.

Skirts

One of (FL) Michelle Obama’s go-to looks is a pencil skirt. It’s flattering on all different body types and hugs you in all the right places :). Pencil skirts are so versatile and no longer just belong in the office. The First Lady keeps the styling of the pencil skirt simple by adding a fabulous coloured cardigan and belting the outfit. Like cardigans, pencil skirts are a must in every woman’s wardrobe.

May this post inspire you to make First Lady Michelle Obama’s look your own. I believe that every woman should have a few fabulous cardigans and pencil skirts in their wardrobe. These would be perfect for the holidays coming up.
