Style Swap: Styling a Baseball Tee, Boyfriend Jeans & Striped Loafers

Ever since I found Cori from Dress Corilynn on Pinterest, I fell in love with her style. Although she is petite, she has an amazing sense of style and has shown that just because you’re petite doesn’t mean you can dress fashionably. When I saw her post last week, I knew that this would be my next outfit for Ginny’s (My New Favorite Outfit) and Jenn’s (The Brandied Pair) Style Swap Link Up. I am a huge fan of boyfriend jeans, see post here, baseball tees and my striped loafers. I can’t seem to get enough of them. Great casual outfit for a busy mom on the go.

Jean Jacket, Jeggings & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

I was so excited last week when it looked as though Spring had arrived, that I decided to take out my jean jacket and flats. The weather still required some layering of a cardigan under the jean jacket and a scarf, but it was starting to give me some hope. Well as I sit and write this post, it’s pouring rain, so no Spring like warm weather. God I hope it’s coming!!!

Boyfriend Jeans: 5 Ways

Boyfriend jeans are definitely my favourite pair of jeans to wear during Spring, Summer and Fall. They are so versatile and comfortable. I only bought my first pair last Spring, but from the first time I tried them on, I was hooked. Boyfriend jeans look great on all different body shapes and sizes. The key to finding the right one is to try them on, yes I understand that I’m stating the obvious, but I’ve heard from so many women that say they can’t be bothered to try things on in the store and then are too lazy to return them. So first things first, try them on!!! Not all boyfriend jeans fit and look the same. Some are mean’t for shorter body types and others for longer ones. The key to finding the right pair is to TRY THEM ON!!!!!! Boyfriend jeans are the pair of pants you can have and can throw on with anything: blazer, t-shirt, button shirt, heels, flats, runners, etc. You name it, anything!!! You can wear them casually with runners and a baseball tee or dress them up with a pair of heels and blazer. Below are 5 different ways I like to wear them and I also included a look that I want to try just as soon as I get a pair of Converse runners.

Transitioning Your Wardrobe From Winter To Spring: Winter Coat To Trench Coat

Winter-Spring: Vodka Infused Lemonade

We celebrated Spring a few days ago and I thought it would be nice to introduce a new series about transitioning your Winter wardrobe to Spring. I pretty much live in my wool Winter coat from November until the beginning of March. Once the weather starts to warm up, I like to start wearing a lighter coat. A trench coat is the perfect transition piece. It’s warm enough when you add layers underneath it to keep you warm when the weather is still a bit cold, but cool enough to wear once it starts to warm up.

I bought my pink trench coat a couple of Springs ago. I was needing a new jacket and I was just going to get the standard neutral trench coat but then when I was in the store, accompanied by my husband and son, my vote was vetoed and both boys voted for me to purchase this pink one. I have to say that initially I was very apprehensive about wearing it. I realized that this is a jacket that people notice, it doesn’t blend into the background. Once I got over that, I love wearing it. I get tons of complements on it. It’s also a great way to add some colour to your outfit.

Our Dinosaur Train Experience

Dinosaur Train Giveaway: Vodka Infused Lemonade

A few weeks ago I ran a contest to meet the gang from the PBS show Dinosaur Train. Yesterday, my family and I, had a chance to check it out. I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I pretty much figured it would be similar to that of Thomas. As with Thomas, the Dinosaur Train is located at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park, in Squamish. We arrived about an hour earlier then the train departs. You could arrive 20-30 mins before the train is scheduled to leave and that would be plenty of time. The train greets you right in the parking lot and takes you all the way to the Round House.

Dinosaur Train: Vodka Infused Lemonade

Once you get settled in the train, a ticket person comes around and hands out the tickets. If you have chosen to pick up your tickets at “Will Call”, this is also done on the train. You receive your tickets, colouring pages, crayons and an activity book.

Before the train takes off, a person blowing bubbles comes around along with a lady who tells “funny” dinosaur jokes and gives you interesting dinosaur facts. My son loved the bubbles, he even tried to eat them, silly boy :).

Dinosaur Train: Vodka Infused Lemonade

At the Round House, we were greeted by a life size “Buddy”, one of the characters from the Dinosaur Train.

Dinosaur Train: Vodka Infused Lemonade With help from some dinosaur tracks and the guide you were given on the Train, you make your way to either the mini train (your admission includes a ticket to go on the mini train) or to the Round House. We decided to make our way to the Round House.

Dinosaur Train: Vodka Infused Lemonade

Once you arrive at the Round House, you are greeted by a very large blow up Conductor, along with other dinosaurs. Once inside there are lots of activities to keep you and your little kidlets busy. There is a huge bouncy castle, an area where you can watch the Dinosaur Train and a couple of excavation areas where you use sifters, brushes, shovels to dig for fossils. They even allow you to keep a petrified piece of wood and a shell!!!

Dinosaur Train: Vodka Infused Lemonade

Dinosaur Train: Vodka Infused Lemonade

They have Dinosaur ballon makers (for a $2 fee), a station to get Dinosaur tattoos, a place to make masks and tables to allow you to relax and have a snack.

Dinosaur Train: Vodka Infused Lemonade

After a quick snack, we made our way to the mini train. The tickets for the mini train are included in your price of admission. It’s a 20 mins ride that takes you all around the Heritage Park.

Dinosaur Train: Vodka Infused Lemonade

You have a choice of either taking the train back to the parking lot or you can walk back. It’s only about a 5 minutes walk back to your car and it’s a nice walk.

So there you have it, our Dinosaur Train experience. Coming from the horses mouth, my son, he had a great time. We all did. It’s definitely worth it. Plan for it to be a day trip. We took the 1pm train and got home around 5. We also did stop on the way home to get a bite to eat, but plan to be at the park at least a couple of hours. It’s a great activity for everyone in your family and it’s also a great way to keep you all from getting cabin fever during Spring Break :)!!!

Although I was compensated for this post, all my opinions are my own.

Ever since I saw Rita, from Coast With Me, wear olive jeggings I had to get a pair!! I’ve had my pair for a while now and when I saw her style hers with a white blazer, I knew it was going to be my next outfit for Ginny’s (My New Favorite Outfit) and Jenn’s (The Brandied Pair) Style Swap Link Up. Fun With The Ladies & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

Last Saturday a few of my girlfriends and I headed out for a girl’s night out. It was 3 months in the making, thanks to my shift work. We had an amazing time!!!!! I laughed so hard, my stomach still hurt on Sunday. Cotton candy was a big theme at this restaurant and after a few drinks, I decided to style some of the cotton candy as a hat. Anyways enjoy the pictures. You can see that as the night progressed and more drinks were consumed, my smile got bigger :).

Pink Tippi Sweater 5 Ways

Last year I purchased my first Tippi sweater from J Crew and was in love. I now have 3 in burgundy, pink and blue. Why I like them so much is that they are lightweight, have 3/4 length sleeve and are made to layer over and under. My favourite way to wear it is layered over a button shirt with jeans, flats and statement necklace. You can wear it with shorts, boyfriend jeans, skinny jeans, cropped pants, layer a button shirt underneath it, add a statement necklace and complete the outfit by adding a blazer. I wore it with a polka dot skirt for my son’s family birthday party last year. Since most of us itching for Spring to arrive, the Tippi sweater from J Crew is the perfect sweater to help you transition from Winter to Spring. Below are 5 different ways I have styled it.

A Very Big Thank You & St. Patrick’s Day Outfit

Yesterday was St. Patrick’s Day and I decided to celebrate by wearing a green cardigan. Gotta say I’m loving that Spring is just around the corner. I’m looking forward to wearing more bright colours!!!!! To keep myself warm, I layered a green cardigan over a simple white 3/4 length t-shirt and paired it with trouser jeans, loafers and added a brown blazer.

thank-you

I just wanted to say a very big THANK YOU to the 15 ladies who not only shared a picture of themselves without any make up on, but took the time to compose a thoughtful and heart felt post. It means a lot to me that you took the time to not only bravely pose for a picture sans make up, but that you took the time to compose a post that came from the heart. This post resonated with many people. I now am seeing people posting pictures of themselves without make up on, on Facebook. Hooray, let’s start celebrating our uniqueness!!! So as a big thanks, I wanted to give a special shout out to the following 15 ladies who linked up. I want to add that I wasn’t able to post a couple of the ladies pictures as it would not save properly, but I’ll include a link to their site anyways.
