Favourite Summer Outfits

New post today!!!!! Woo Hoo!!!!!!!! If you follow me on Instagram, yesterday you got a sneak peak into today’s post. Since Summer still is in full swing here, I wanted to recap my favourite looks and items of the Summer. I owe today’s post to my wonderful husband, who made breakfast yesterday so I could blog, before we had to tackle some chores, shopping and a bbq at a friend’s place.

By far my favourite purchase and most beloved item of the Summer has to be my denim vest. At first I was reluctant to buy it. Wasn’t sure if I would get enough use out of it. Was I ever wrong!!! I wore it so much. It’s such a great layering piece over anything: dresses, skirts, shorts and the perfect completer piece. On Saturday I wore it to the zoo with shorts and a tank top, again can be seen on Instagram.

Denim Vest

The next item that I couldn’t get enough of is dresses. Long or short, I wanted to wear them as much as possible, considering all I pretty much wear in the Winter are pants. Definitely my favourite style of dress is the Maxi dress. It’s elegant, simple, light and easily dressed up.

dresses

Shorts were also another favourite of mine, especially my cuffed denim ones and my printed ones. As you can see, a theme is emerging with my Summer outfits: denim vest!!!!! Like I wrote earlier, I just couldn’t get enough of it. Again like with the dresses, shorts also have a short life span here in Vancouver so I tried to wear them as much as possible. I loved wearing them with a top and blazer.

Shorts

Last but certainly not least I can’t forget to mention my love of skirts. Over the years, I’ve acquired quite the collection. The sample below is only a fraction of the skirts I own. I love pairing them with a tank top and some bling. One of my favourite outfits, turned out to be one that I had never worn before. My striped skirt with a sleeveless polka dot blouse and my wedges. Sometimes experimenting pays off. I’m looking forward to wearing this combination more next Spring/Summer.

Skirts

Which one is your favourite look? Gotta say it’s a tie between the polka dot blouse and striped skirt and my tulip dress and denim vest.

May this blog inspire you to experiment with what you have in your wardrobe. You’d be surprised at the outfits just waiting to be created.

Looking forward to showing you all my favourite Fall trends. You can follow me on Instagram to see my daily outfits, see what I’m up to and get sneak peaks into my favourite Fall trends.

An Edgy LBD, Wedding Anniversary Celebration & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

Before I get to my post, I just wanted to thank you all for your sweet and supportive comments in regards to my absence and to Monday’s post. This blog isn’t going anywhere, it’s just been a crazy Summer. Here’s hoping the teachers strike ends soon so we can get back to normal and I can enjoy some “me” time while my son is at Kindergarten.

I also wanted to mention that I finally joined Instagram!!!!!! I know it’s taken me a long time, as many of you have asked if I have an IG account. Well now I do. I’m still trying to get the hang of it, but I would love it if you would follow me @ http://instagram.com/vodkainfusedlemonade

Last Wednesday, my husband and I celebrated our 9 year wedding anniversary. On Saturday we headed out for a fabulous dinner at Hawksworth restaurant. Without hesitation, I would describe my husband and I as foodies. We absolutely love food. A good friend of mine recommended it to me and it did not disappointed. We had a wonderful evening.

Banana Republic was having their 50% off Friends and Family sale a while back and I fell in love with their black Sloan-Fit Faux-Leather Sheath dress. I like it because it’s an edgy take on a classic dress. It was the perfect dress to celebrate our 9 year wedding anniversary. It was a big hit with my husband :)

Polka Dots and Stripes

I was inspired for this outfit by the wonderful Tara from Mix and Match Fashion. She styled a striped skirt with a cute sleeveless blouse. It gave me the idea of styling my red and white striped skirt with my sleeveless polka dot blouse. I don’t wear this blouse much and I’m trying to find new ways of styling it. I love how the outfit turned out.

Mixing Print: Polka Dots & Stripes

This year it’s all about mixing prints. It seems as though the craziest the combination is the better, it is. My outfit is far from being crazy. I don’t think that black and white polka dots and stripes qualify as crazy but I’m ok with that. I’ve never been a crazy fashionista. I’m more a classic kind of gal. The other day Summer decided to make another appearance so I decided to pair my polka dot top with striped shorts. I added a statement necklace and finished the outfit off with sandals and a cross-body bag.

Nautical, Mickey Mouse & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

Last Sunday marked the last activity my son had for this school year. It was his end of the year dance recital. The kids ended up putting me into the “ugly cry”. When they all came out on stage during the Finale, I just couldn’t help myself. They all worked so hard and they did an amazing job. They should all be so proud of themselves. Below are pictures of my son in his Mickey Mouse costume. I decided to go for the nautical theme for my outfit: red, white and navy. I bought these amazing navy and white heels from Michael Kors many, many, many years ago and I finally wore them again. It’s been almost 5 years since I last wore them, tragedy, I tell you!!!!! :)

Although I’m sad that another year has come and gone, I’m grateful for a little reprieve. Looking forward to some much needed days off this Summer without anything scheduled, although who I am kidding, I’ve still got my son scheduled for some activities. I can’t help it. I’m a creature of habit and I like to be organized!!!!!!

Monochromatic White With A Touch Of Pink & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

I’m a big fan of Emily’s blog Cupcakes & Cashmere and in one of her most recent posts, she wore all white with a black blazer. I just love the clean lines and look of the outfit, so I decided to recreate it, with a pink blazer instead of a black one.

Polka Dots, Princess Castle Cake & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

Last weekend ended the almost week and a half long birthday celebration for my son. We had his birthday party with his friends on Saturday and boy did he have fun. It was so much fun to watch him interact with his little friends. He was such a good host. He greeted everyone as they came and then he hugged everyone as they left. I think everyone had a good time. I was exhausted after it was all said and done, but it was worth it. The look on his face when he walked into the room and saw it decorated it and then when he saw his cake, made all the hard work worth it. Below are pictures of what I wore, his princess castle cake and some family pictures. These pictures were all taken with my new camera :)

In my relief that I was able to carry the cake safely to my son, I accidentally blew out the candle. I breathed a sigh of relief and it went out. Kind of funny and at least my son wasn’t upset. We relight the candle and all was good.

Pink Linen Blazer 2 Ways

I fell in love with this pink/blush linen blazer from Banana Republic. When I saw it, I knew it would be the perfect blazer to transition me from Winter to Spring to Summer. The only down side is that it wrinkles very easily, but otherwise it’s perfect. I never used to like the colour pink, don’t know why, but I honestly hated it. I am finding that as I’m getting older, I tend to be drawn to pink things. Who knew getting older would make me appreciate the colour pink more :) !!!!

I know that you guys are well aware that I absolutely love blazers and they are the perfect completer piece to any outfit. If you are stumped for what to wear, throw on a t-shirt, skinny jeans, add flats, a statement necklace and a blazer to finish off your look. This is definitely my go-to outfit when I’m stumped as to what to wear. Blazers don’t have to be boxy or make you feel like you work in an office. When I wear blazers, I feel more put together, yet still feeling not overly dressed up. Below are 2 ways that I’ve worn this fabulous blazer.

Pink Blazer

Style it casually with a simple white tee, skinny jeans, flats and a statement necklace

Pink, Stripes & Pangea Giveaway

One of my favourite blazers is this peachy pink one from Banana Republic. I can’t get enough of it. I love wearing it with a white top, skinny jeans, statement necklace and my striped loafers. I’m really looking forward to pairing it with some dresses and shorts once this weather finally warms up.

Pangea Organics Giveaway

In the past 6 years I’ve made a conscious effort to try and minimize the amount of chemicals my family and I ingest, from make up, to every day household cleaning products, to beauty products to food. Sometimes it’s harder to find affordable, chemical free products and Pangea Organics is a great option.

I’ve teamed up with Pangea Organics Canada to giveaway their fabulous Canadian Pine with white sage Hand Soap and Egyptian Fennel with grapefruit and sweet orange lip balm. Pangea Organics is a Canadian company based out of Vancouver who strive to “ALWAYS: Nurturing, Handcrafted, Organic, Fair Trade (whenever possible), and Cruelty-Free; NEVER:Petroleum, Sulfates or Detergents, Synthetic Preservatives, Artificial Colors or Fragrances, or GMOs“.

Pangea Organics

Pangea Organics kindly sent over their Canadian Pine with white sage Hand Soap and Egyptian Fennel with grapefruit and sweet orange lip balm. I’m not the biggest fan of pine scented things, but I really enjoy it in their hand wash. It’s just the right amount pine scent and it’s a nice alternative to the normal lavender scented ones I usually buy. I like that it doesn’t dry out your hands and it comes out in the form of foam. Their lip balm is an interesting combination of scents: fennel, grapefruit and orange. I like that it’s bigger than the traditional size of lip balm. I find that it leaves your lips not sticky or too shiny and that it conditions your lips so that they feel nice and soft.

So here’s your chance to win their wonderful Canadian Pine with white sage Hand Soap and Egyptian Fennel with grapefruit and sweet orange lip balm. Just follow the Rafflectoper instructions below. Contest runs until Wednesday May 14 midnight PST and is open to both Canadian & US residents. Good luck everyone!!!!
