Polka Dots, Princess Castle Cake & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

Last weekend ended the almost week and a half long birthday celebration for my son. We had his birthday party with his friends on Saturday and boy did he have fun. It was so much fun to watch him interact with his little friends. He was such a good host. He greeted everyone as they came and then he hugged everyone as they left. I think everyone had a good time. I was exhausted after it was all said and done, but it was worth it. The look on his face when he walked into the room and saw it decorated it and then when he saw his cake, made all the hard work worth it. Below are pictures of what I wore, his princess castle cake and some family pictures. These pictures were all taken with my new camera :)

In my relief that I was able to carry the cake safely to my son, I accidentally blew out the candle. I breathed a sigh of relief and it went out. Kind of funny and at least my son wasn’t upset. We relight the candle and all was good.

Highschool Reunion & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

Last weekend was my husband’s Highschool reunion. It was a 2 day affair, starting with a bbq at his old Highschool on Friday and then on Saturday cocktails and appetizers at a Lounge. Funny thing happened on Friday… I get all gussied up (had my hair done the night before, coloured, straightened, the whole gamut) only to arrive to a group of men. My husband went to an all boys Highschool. Imagine my surprise when we walk into a room full of men and no other women??? Yup, you guessed it, Friday night was only for the alumni. Needless to say I was quite embarrassed. My husband has to learn to read emails a bit better. I went home, curled up in bed and caught up on my shows, but not before I got a bit embarrassed. One of the wives the next day told me I should have just announced that I’m the entertainment for the evening!!! Too bad I didn’t think of that at the time :). Anyways below are pictures of what I wore to both nights.

Printed Sweater & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

I absolutely love how print is in this Fall. Adding a print to a sweater or skirt or top changes the look completely. Take this sweater that I’m wearing. It’s a simple, white merino sweater but by adding the red print, it makes the sweater pop. Looking forward to layering it over a Chambray and Gingham top. In today’s outfit, I styled this fabulous sweater with skinny jeans, ballet flats and a blazer.

Maxi Dress Link Up & $50 Children’s Place Giveaway

Just wanted to let you all know that I’m guest posting over at Elegance & Mommyhood today. Thanks Ada for having me. Come by and say hi.

Please stop by Wallis’ Facebook page and vote for me. It’s as easy as clicking on this link, finding my picture and pressing vote. You can vote once an hour for me and I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

Today I am linking up with the fabulous Marion from Marionberry Style for her Trend of the Month Link Up. This month’s trend is one of my favorites: maxi dresses!!! I can’t get enough of them. If you don’t own one yet, ladies, go out and get yourself one. They have great ones at The Gap and Old Navy. I love that they are comfortable yet feminine. I like that they are versatile and you can dress it up or down. Here is the way I styled my black and white stripe maxi. I decided to add a cobalt blazer to it and some sandals.

Polka Dots, Outfit Recap & What To Wear This Long Weekend

I want to start of this post by thanking Ada from Elegance & Mommyhood for her shout out to me in her post yesterday. I really appreciate it. Thank you Ada for your beautiful write up and summary of my blog and of my fashion. Please check out her blog: Elegance & Mommyhood.

I also want to acknowledge that I know I haven’t done a link up in a while. Life is busy but I’m also working on a weekly link up. I’m waiting for my button from the fabulous Jane Kim and then we will resume.

This is what I am wearing today: my pink polka cropped pants, white top and ballet flats. We are headed to a playdate today, so I thought this would be a great outfit to socialize and chase after Aiden in.

Outfit Recap

I’m experimenting with where to take my pictures. I have a small digital camera, nothing special and lighting is definitely an issue. Do you guys prefer pictures inside or outside?

Thoughts on this week’s events: A little of this and a little of that…

It’s been a busy and somewhat discouraging week. Although I’m happy with my blog and the fact that now I finally have a logo and buttons, I’m discouraged by the numbers. I know that I didn’t start this blog for numbers and it shouldn’t be about numbers, but lets be honest, it is about numbers!!! People are always asking me what my unique and monthly pageviews are. Last month, I felt like this blog was picking up momentum and this month, I feel like I am moving backwards. So yes I’m extremely discouraged. I’m a busy mom, that works on the weekends, makes cakes/cupcakes on the side and tries to spend some time with my husband. I put a lot of hard work and effort into it and it seems like it’s all in vain.

With that said, being negative and feeling sorry for myself won’t help my numbers and it certainly won’t encourage me to keep going. I’ve decided to fuck the numbers and continue to focus on quality. That’s what matters. I want to continue to focus on those that read my blog each and every day and leave me thoughtful and supportive comments. Nothing makes me happier then when I receive a comment that you bought a boyfriend jacket and you love it, or that you bought a pair of polka dot pants and you feel fabulous in it. At the end of the day that is what I want for my blog: for women to read it and be inspired to purchase things that make them feel pretty!!! :) So I promise that I will try and stay positive and please keep all the comments coming. I do read each and every one and I also do respond to them all. So thank you for all your support, I do really appreciate it. Thank you for listening.

On a more positive note my favorite moments with my son this week were when we made a bed downstairs on the area rug, brought pillows down, watched a movie, ate popcorn and then Aiden made a delicious spread of toy food for me. It was so much fun. The other great moment was when we pretended to sing opera, like a duet. It’s high and painful to listen to I’m sure, but boy did we have fun horsing around :).

I wanted to mention that, although I’m not the biggest fan of Angelina Jolie, I commend her for her bravery in coming out and sharing her story about her prophylactic double mastectomy. I’m glad that she has decided to come out and share her story so that women don’t feel so alone in their decision. I can’t begin to imagine how hard that must have been for Angelina and how hard it is for other women.

I wanted to share this quote from Will Smith. I thought it was quite fitting and true.

Will Smith Quote

Last but not least, I just remembered a few days ago that this weekend is the May long weekend. I thought it was next weekend. Anyways below is an outfit I put together for the long weekend. It’s perfect for a picnic, going to the park, or just hanging out at home.
