I’ve had this navy blue cardigan forever and the other day I saw the fabulous Rachel from Pink Peonies style it with skinny jeans, heels and a scarf. I thought this would be the perfect outfit for Ginny’s from My New Favorite Outfit and Jenn’s fromThe Brandied Pair Style Swap Link Up.
I wasn’t able to style this outfit with heels as Rachel did (nor do I look as glamorous as Rachel does, this is definitely a more realistic look for me), because we had about a foot of snow, but I did manage to style it with boots and a fabulous polka dot scarf and blinged it up with arm candy and a statement necklace.
I wanted to thank you all for your support and kind comments regarding Tuesday’s post about being beautiful and how our uniqueness makes us all beautiful. Click here to read the post and to participate in next Tuesday’s link up called “I AM BEAUTIFUL”.
We had a very busy Sunday. We woke up and celebrated Canada’s win in Men’s Hockey. We then headed out for my son’s first Hungarian Scouts Luncheon. We then came home as we had quite the dump of snow and make a snow man, had a huge snow ball fight and made snow angels. We tried to get in as much Winter fun as we could, as I doubt there will be any more snow this year. Below are pictures of our Sunday escapades.

It’s that time of the week for my link up. Thank you to all 87 of you fabulous ladies who linked up last week!!!! A great turn out. THANK YOU!!!!!!! It’s no secret that I love blazers and that I basically live in them 3/4 of the year. They go with absolutely everything, from maxi dresses, to skirts, dresses, shorts, boyfriend jeans, jeans, cropped pants… You get the idea. Like I said, everything!!!!!!! I like blazers because they can dress up an outfit as simple as t-shirt and jeans. It’s a great alternative to wearing a cardigan and then a jacket over it. I also like blazers because they are a great piece to use to layer. You can wear it over a sweater and blouse or layer it over a dress. I must have a dozen different blazers in my closet. Although I’ve chosen 8 ways to show case the different ways I’ve worn a blazer, I can assure you that I have many more pictures then just 8 ways.
Wear it with a simple t-shirt, statement necklace, trouser jeans and flats
So you’re probably wondering what the title is all about. Recently I watched this interesting experiment where they took 4 women, got them all dolled up (professional hair and makeup and photos) and then photoshopped the pictures. Their reactions were not only surprising but so refreshing and honest. My favourite part was when one of the women said: ”Once you take away your imperfections, there’s not much left of who you really are!!” So honest and so true. Take a look at this 2.5 mins video.
After watching this video, it got me thinking about how we see ourselves, how we are constantly comparing ourselves to other women, to celebrities and to models in magazines. Why do we do this? Why are we constantly focusing on our flaws, instead of embracing them? Why are so many women choosing to get plastic surgery and morph their appearance until they are almost unrecognizable?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Why can’t we appreciate that those flaws make us unique. What are we teaching our children, our daughters? It needs to stop!!!!!
I recently read this blog post from Daily Life titled, “When your mother says she’s fat“, about a daughter writing to her mom about how her negative image affected her daughter’s image of herself. We don’t realize that our children don’t see our flaws, our wrinkles, our grey hairs, our stretch marks, extra weight, they just see us. My son calls me a princess. He tells me that I’m beautiful. He doesn’t see the flaws that I see. He loves me just the way that I am. After reading this article, I realized how we have been damaging not only our daughters, but also our sons. We’ve shown our daughters to not only not love their bodies, but to try and change it and we have taught our sons not to respect women.
Recently I had a discussion about my son about how beauty is only skin deep. I was trying to teach him that the reason why his friends like him is not because he is cute, it’s because of his beautiful personality, his big heart and his loving demeanour. I explained to him that beauty is not about the way people look, it’s about who they are, what they do and how they treat others. I want my son to grow up realizing that beauty is more then about how a person looks. I want him to see the beauty within someone, like how I see the beauty of his soul, of his being.
So after reading that post and watching that video, I got an idea. I know that I post mainly about fashion, but I also try and emphasize that it’s not about the clothing, it’s about how they make you feel. Do they make you feel pretty about yourself? Do you feel confident when you leave the house, or are you focused on all the things you want to change about yourself?
So next Tuesday March 4, please join me in my link up called “I AM BEAUTIFUL“. The idea is for us women to post pictures of ourselves without make up on or our hair done, to show the world and ourselves that we are beautiful just the way we are. If you are not a blogger and would love to participate, please send me a picture by Friday Feb 28 to vodkainfusedlemonade@gmail.com and I will include it in my post.
To get you guys inspired, here is a picture of me in all my morning glory before heading out the door to yoga. No make up, nothing. My husband tells me that this is how I should always look, no make up. He loves me au-naturel
Below is a button if you want to post it in your blog.
May this blog inspire you to join me next Tuesday and show the world that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes and that this world would be a very dull place if we all looked the same!!! Let’s start embracing our beauty and our uniqueness and teach our children to love themselves for who they are!!!!
I’m so excited to be collaborating with The West Coast Railway Heritage Park to giveaway a 4 pack of tickets to see the gang from the PBS show Dinosaur Train. Join the Pteranodon family: Tiny, Shiny, Don, Dawn, Mr & Mrs. Pteranodon and the conductor for a fun filled day of exploring dinosaur bones and a trip on the Dinosaur Train. This is the perfect way to spend a few hours during Spring break.
If you’ve been to see Thomas then this is very similar. Take a look at a post from our Thomas experience, click here. We’ve been twice to see Thomas and what a great experience!!!!!! It’s a fun day for both adults and kids. I like that it’s outdoors, so the kids can run around, but there is also a large indoor area where you can sit and have a snack and/or lunch. There are plenty of activities to keep the kids busy. So grab your kids and head over to Squamish to visit the gang of The Dinosaur Train. To buy tickets or for more information please click here.

I’m really excited to be linking up today with Ginny from My New Favorite Outfit and Jenn fromThe Brandied Pair for their Style Swap Link Up. The idea of their link up is to take an item of clothing that another blogger wore and style it your own way. I saw Inge from This Ever Evolving Life style a red pant and I decided that this would be perfect for the Style Swap.
I didn’t actually wear the outfit, since it’s much too cold outside, but it’s definitely an outfit that I will be wearing once it warms up. I’m itching to take my Spring stuff out of hiding!!! I can’t wait for warmer weather :)!!!!!!
Jacket, T-Shirt and Pant (Gap). Necklace (J Crew).
May this blog inspire you to recreate a look that you like and make it your own.
I’ve got a great giveaway coming this Monday, so please stop by.
Last Friday, Feb 14, kicked off a weekend of celebration. Friday was Valentine’s Day and Saturday was my husband’s birthday. Traditionally we get a heart shaped pizza for Valentine’s Day and this year was no different. We had a lot of fun. We started the day off by exchanging gifts. We all had chocolates on the brain :). Below are pictures of us celebrating Valentine’s Day and my husband’s birthday.
My husband enjoyed himself way too much while making these!!!!

So I’ve been a bit distracted lately and have been battling computer problems, hence less posts. Anyways I’m hoping that my computer problems are fixed. I noticed that this week I hadn’t planned a co-host. Not sure how that happened, but I guess me being distracted hasn’t helped. Like many of you, I’m trying to juggle everything. Got lots of reading to do for work and a cupcake order for the beginning of March, plus just trying to do every day things and planning a couple of trips for the Fall has kept my brain quite occupied and distracted. So I apologize that if recently my posts have been bit disjunct and that I don’t have a co-host for this week. Instead I decided to feature 5 favourite looks from last week. Gotta say ladies, you all have amazing outfits each and every week. You make it hard for me :).
It’s that time of the week for my link up. Thank you to all 94 of you fabulous ladies who linked up last week!!!! A great turn out. THANK YOU!!!!!!! Let’s try and get 100 this week If you are interested in co-hosting please email me at vodkainfusedlemonade@gmail.com. If you’ve already co-hosted and would like to again, don’t hesitate to email me.
Turtlenecks don’t have to be boring!!!!! I love them, especially in Winter. They are the perfect layering piece to have in your closet. You can wear them on their own with jeans, or add a blazer, layer it under a dress or over a dress. They don’t have to be boring!!!!!! If you wear a turtleneck on it’s own try accessorizing by adding a great hat or statement necklace. Take a look at 5 different ways I’ve style a turtleneck.
Style it under a shift dress to go from Summer to Winter
Although I am on a shopping freeze, that doesn’t mean that I can’t look at all the fabulous Spring items that are starting to make an appearance in stores. I do have a few items that I would like to purchase: a pair of white canvas comfortable shoes and loafers. I have to say that when loafers first came out, I didn’t really care for them, but now I’m in love. I found the most perfect pair from J Crew, now for them to go on sale!!!!!!!! We are planning 2 trips this Fall, both to fairly warm locations, so I wanted a pair of comfortable white canvas shoes. Anyways below is some of the items that I have my eye on:
I know it’s been radio silence over here the past few days. I worked Saturday night (was miserable, spent Sunday recovering), Monday was a holiday (Family Day), Tuesday was errand day ( I was gone pretty much all day) and then all of a sudden it was Wednesday. I can’t believe it’s already Thursday and the middle of February!!!! Seriously where has this year gone?!?!?!? I’ll be back with regular posts next week, I promise :)!!!!
This is what I wore yesterday: a simple brown tunic style sweater, skinny jeans, boots and a rose gold necklace. Like I wrote in previous posts, I’m trying hard to stay on my shopping freeze, therefore I’m rediscovering items that I’ve had in my closet but haven’t worn in a while.
It’s that time of the week for my link up. Thank you to all 85 of you fabulous ladies who linked up last week!!!! A great turn out. THANK YOU!!!!!!! My fabulous co-host this week is Elizabeth from Elizabeth Nygard.
