I bought this cute shift dress from J Crew a few seasons ago and I love how versatile it is. I can wear it during Winter paired over a turtleneck and boots and then in the Spring I can wear it with a cardigan and rain boots or style it simple with flats. A shift dress is a must in every woman’s closet. It’s flattering and can be dressed up or down. You can even pair them with converse runners for chasing after your kid :).

Boyfriend Jeans: 5 Ways

Boyfriend jeans are definitely my favourite pair of jeans to wear during Spring, Summer and Fall. They are so versatile and comfortable. I only bought my first pair last Spring, but from the first time I tried them on, I was hooked. Boyfriend jeans look great on all different body shapes and sizes. The key to finding the right one is to try them on, yes I understand that I’m stating the obvious, but I’ve heard from so many women that say they can’t be bothered to try things on in the store and then are too lazy to return them. So first things first, try them on!!! Not all boyfriend jeans fit and look the same. Some are mean’t for shorter body types and others for longer ones. The key to finding the right pair is to TRY THEM ON!!!!!! Boyfriend jeans are the pair of pants you can have and can throw on with anything: blazer, t-shirt, button shirt, heels, flats, runners, etc. You name it, anything!!! You can wear them casually with runners and a baseball tee or dress them up with a pair of heels and blazer. Below are 5 different ways I like to wear them and I also included a look that I want to try just as soon as I get a pair of Converse runners.

Tweed, Polka Dots & Oh It’s Time For New BOOTS :(

I’m not sure about you, but I realize that my outfits follow a sort of pattern. Last year I was totally into layering shirts under sweaters and adding a statement necklace. This year it’s all about the blazer. Do you find yourself preferring a certain style over another? Do you find that your style changes each year?

You guessed it, today’s outfit post is all about a blazer. I can’t get enough of wearing a blazer over a graphic tee and adding some sort of sparkly necklace to it. This blazer is a navy blue tweed one with polka dot linking and has elbow patches on it. Gotta say I never thought I would wear elbow patches but I love it. I love how it adds a subtle detail to the jacket and so does the polka dot linking. When I look for what style of blazer to buy, for instance, I like to look at ones that have little subtle details that make it unique and different. I immediately fell in love with this one from the Gap.

Gotta say I’m soooooo not impressed with the quality of boots nowadays!!! I bought this pair 2 years ago and the other day, during pouring Monsoon like rain, my right foot quickly realized that the boot is no longer water proof!!!! Seriously, these boots are 2 years old, granted I do wear them a lot, but is it too much to ask for, for boots to last a little longer then 2 years?!?!?!?!? This is the second pair that this happened to. NOT IMPRESSED!!!!!! What kills me the most is that these weren’t cheap boots either. Last pair were, so I thought this time I would spend a little more, well in this case it doesn’t matter what you spend, they are all made the same, CRAP!!!! Sorry for my vent, but it does bother me that they don’t make things to last at all. The boots that I am referring to are the ones in the above outfit picture. I guess my post last week on boots, read here, will come in handy. Thankfully boots are now on sale. I can’t be the only one that this has happened to, or am I???

Style Swap: Styling A Navy Cardigan

I’ve had this navy blue cardigan forever and the other day I saw the fabulous Rachel from Pink Peonies style it with skinny jeans, heels and a scarf. I thought this would be the perfect outfit for Ginny’s from My New Favorite Outfit and Jenn’s fromThe Brandied Pair Style Swap Link Up.

I wasn’t able to style this outfit with heels as Rachel did (nor do I look as glamorous as Rachel does, this is definitely a more realistic look for me), because we had about a foot of snow, but I did manage to style it with boots and a fabulous polka dot scarf and blinged it up with arm candy and a statement necklace.

It’s no secret that I love blazers and that I basically live in them 3/4 of the year. They go with absolutely everything, from maxi dresses, to skirts, dresses, shorts, boyfriend jeans, jeans, cropped pants… You get the idea. Like I said, everything!!!!!!! I like blazers because they can dress up an outfit as simple as t-shirt and jeans. It’s a great alternative to wearing a cardigan and then a jacket over it. I also like blazers because they are a great piece to use to layer. You can wear it over a sweater and blouse or layer it over a dress. I must have a dozen different blazers in my closet. Although I’ve chosen 8 ways to show case the different ways I’ve worn a blazer, I can assure you that I have many more pictures then just 8 ways.

Valentine’s Day, Birthday Fun & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

Last Friday, Feb 14, kicked off a weekend of celebration. Friday was Valentine’s Day and Saturday was my husband’s birthday. Traditionally we get a heart shaped pizza for Valentine’s Day and this year was no different. We had a lot of fun. We started the day off by exchanging gifts. We all had chocolates on the brain :). So I’ve been a bit distracted lately and have been battling computer problems, hence less posts. Anyways I’m hoping that my computer problems are fixed. I noticed that this week I hadn’t planned a co-host. Not sure how that happened, but I guess me being distracted hasn’t helped. Like many of you, I’m trying to juggle everything. Got lots of reading to do for work and a cupcake order for the beginning of March, plus just trying to do every day things and planning a couple of trips for the Fall has kept my brain quite occupied and distracted. Turtlenecks don’t have to be boring!!!!! I love them, especially in Winter. They are the perfect layering piece to have in your closet. I know it’s been radio silence over here the past few days. I worked Saturday night (was miserable, spent Sunday recovering), Monday was a holiday (Family Day), Tuesday was errand day ( I was gone pretty much all day) and then all of a sudden it was Wednesday. I can’t believe it’s already Thursday and the middle of February!!!! Seriously where has this year gone?!?!?!? I’ll be back with regular posts next week, I promise :)!!!!

Oxford Shirt: 5 Ways

I just have to gush a bit about my son :)! On Tuesday I registered him for Kindergarten. KINDERGARTEN!!!!!! When did this happen? How did he go from a baby to now a school aged child?!?!?!?!?!? It seems like just yesterday he was lying on the mattress of my hospital bed, where I told him to not get too big too quickly.

Let’s just say that after I left the school, I had tears in my eyes. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy that he is going to Kindergarten in the Fall, but it also saddens me. It’s just that he is getting too big, too fast. I know I’m not the only one who feels the same way. I’m just so proud of him.

One staple that should be in every woman’s closet is a white Oxford shirt!! It’s something that you can wear with anything. It’s one of the most versatile pieces you will have in your closet, I promise. Yesterday I showed you a gingham top styled with a cardigan and jeans. Today I’m going to show you 5 different ways to style gingham. Gingham is the perfect top to change up an outfit. It’s a great, versatile piece that can be worn by itself, layer it under a cardigan, layer it under a dress or belt it and add a vest. Gingham kind of reminds me of the country.
