I paired a white linen tee with an embellished neckline with boyfriend jeans, red blazer and striped loafers. Perfect outfit for running errands and enjoying my son’s music class.

Building A Summer Wardrobe: Pants & Shorts & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

In case you’ve missed it, I have been nominated for Vancouver’s Top Mom blogger. You can vote once a week for 2 weeks. It runs from Friday May 23 until Friday June 6. All you need to do is click on this link, find Agnes Mayer, Vodka Infused Lemonade and press vote. It’s that simple. Although you can only vote once a week, you can vote for me using different devices, like your IPad, Labtop, phones and any computer you have access to. Summer Wardrobe

On Monday I featured blazers, cardigans, vests and jean jackets, on Tuesday I featured t-shirts, tank tops and blouses, on Wednesday I featured dresses and skirts and today I’m featuring shorts and pants. Pants and shorts come in all different shapes, sizes, colours and textures. Summer is the perfect time to experiment with colour and length of pants and shorts. Sure some lengths don’t work well with certain heights, but until you’ve tried it on, you don’t know. The key in finding the perfect length of shorts and pants is to see where it cuts you off. You always want it to cut you at your smallest not widest, therefore accentuating the smallest part of you, not the largest. I’ve definitely developed an affinity to cropped pants and my boyfriend jeans. They are the perfect pant to build on my previous posts. Add a tank top to a cute pair of cropped camouflage pant and a cardigan and you’re set.

Style Swap: Styling a Baseball Tee, Boyfriend Jeans & Striped Loafers

Ever since I found Cori from Dress Corilynn on Pinterest, I fell in love with her style. Although she is petite, she has an amazing sense of style and has shown that just because you’re petite doesn’t mean you can dress fashionably. When I saw her post last week, I knew that this would be my next outfit for Ginny’s (My New Favorite Outfit) and Jenn’s (The Brandied Pair) Style Swap Link Up. I am a huge fan of boyfriend jeans, see post here, baseball tees and my striped loafers. I can’t seem to get enough of them. Great casual outfit for a busy mom on the go.

Boyfriend Jeans: 5 Ways

Boyfriend jeans are definitely my favourite pair of jeans to wear during Spring, Summer and Fall. They are so versatile and comfortable. I only bought my first pair last Spring, but from the first time I tried them on, I was hooked. Boyfriend jeans look great on all different body shapes and sizes. The key to finding the right one is to try them on, yes I understand that I’m stating the obvious, but I’ve heard from so many women that say they can’t be bothered to try things on in the store and then are too lazy to return them. So first things first, try them on!!! Not all boyfriend jeans fit and look the same. Some are mean’t for shorter body types and others for longer ones. The key to finding the right pair is to TRY THEM ON!!!!!! Boyfriend jeans are the pair of pants you can have and can throw on with anything: blazer, t-shirt, button shirt, heels, flats, runners, etc. You name it, anything!!! You can wear them casually with runners and a baseball tee or dress them up with a pair of heels and blazer. Below are 5 different ways I like to wear them and I also included a look that I want to try just as soon as I get a pair of Converse runners.

Booties & Boyfriend Jeans

Since Winter has arrived, my boyfriend jeans have taken a back seat. I thought it would be a nice outfit to pair my boyfriend jeans with my booties. I thought that my boyfriend jeans would hit just at the top of my boots and then my legs wouldn’t be bare. That’s not quite how it worked out, I had about a 3 inch gap between my pants and the boots, so my legs were a bit cold. I’m willing to suffer a bit for fashion. So ladies if you’re sad that your boyfriend jeans are growing dust bunnies on them, try pairing them with a great boot.

Blazer, Tee and Boyfriend Jeans: My “Momiform”

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I was busy shuttling my son to dance practice, figuring out how to juggle soccer and dance, celebrated a friend’s birthday on Saturday, had a date night with my husband on Friday and worked Sunday and Monday. Hope you all enjoyed your weekend.

I wanted to thank you all for linking up on Thursday. We had over 60 link ups!!! That’s the best yet. Thank you to Whitney who co-hosted 2 weeks ago and Jen who co-hosted this past week. If you are interested in co-hosting my weekly Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up, please email me at vodkainfusedlemonade@gmail.com. I’m currently looking for hosts for the end of October and November.

It’s no surprise that my favourite go-to outfit is a t-shirt, boyfriend jeans and a blazer. It’s comfortable, stylish and the blazer keeps me warm. It’s what I like to call my “momiform”. I like that by adding a blazer and a statement necklace I’m dressing up a simple t-shirt and jeans.

Just Add A Blazer

I am a strong believer in adding a blazer to your outfit. It not only keeps you warm but it’s great completer piece. Fall is the perfect season to dust off your blazers, dry clean them and start wearing them. The weather here has been less than shall we say cooperative. You don’t know from one minute to the next what will happen, so a blazer is the perfect way to keep you warm and dry.

Here are some blazers I’ve worn in the past week for going out, taking my son to preschool and errand running:

Going Out

Black and White Stripe Blazer

Blazer (Jacob). Pants (RW & Co.). Shoes (Tory Burch). T-Shirt (Gap). Necklace (J Crew). Purse (Coach).

I wore this outfit to go to see The Butler a few weeks ago. You guys know much I love stripes and this blazer is the perfect way to complete this outfit. Please excuse my messy t-shirt. This is what happens when you take your own pictures. You have no one to tell you that your shirt needs to be adjusted :).

Taking My Son To PreSchool

Cord Blazer

Jacket (RW & Co.). Top (Gap). Jeans (J Brand c/o Aritzia). Shoes (Tory Burch). Purse (J Crew). Necklace (Coach). Watch (Michael Kors). Bracelets (Stella & Dot).

I wore this outfit to take my son to his first day of preschool. It’s actually his second year, so I was fortunate and comfortable enough to just drop him off for the 1 hour.

Errand Running

Jean Jacket

Jacket & Sweater (RW & Co.). Boyfriend Jeans (Gap). Shoes (Aldo). Necklace (My Name Necklace). Purse (J Crew). Bracelets (Stella & Dot). Watch (Michael Kors).

Cobalt Blazer

I wore both of these outfits to run errands. They are comfortable and stylish and great for this transitional weather we are having. Pearls, Boyfriend Jeans, Dots & Dashes & Giveaway

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I worked on Saturday but then on Sunday, the boys and I headed to see Thomas in Squamish. Will post pictures tomorrow.

My husband told me that I should put a disclaimer under my outfit posts stating “if weather permits”. I had high hopes of wearing my black and white striped shorts on Friday but the weather had very different ideas. It rained all morning. Hence the reason for indoor pictures. So instead I went for the old stand-by: boyfriend jeans and my Tippi Sweater. I decided to bring a little juxtaposition to my outfit by adding a feminine pearl necklace to my masculine boyfriend jeans.

This is what I am wearing today: my navy and white striped dress, belted it with my green cardigan. It’s one of my favorite ways to wear this dress.

Dots & Dashes

I am really excited to introduce a fabulous company called Dots & Dashes. This local business was started by Claire Lawrence, a fellow Nurse, and mother to 4 boys. The idea behind Dots & Dashes is to protect pedestrians and cyclists from getting hit; to make them visible. On average in British Columbia, 3,800 pedestrians and cyclists are hit and injured each year. 70 people will die from their injuries. (ICBC, Quick Statistics, April 2012). I know that this past Winter it seemed like every day the news was reporting another pedestrian getting hit. I have to say though that the owness is on both the driver and the pedestrian. This past Winter, my husband was driving in the pouring and we almost hit a pedestrian because they stepped off the curb without looking to see if there were any cars coming. Thankfully we spotted them in time, but they didn’t have any reflective gear on them.

Claire kindly sent over a starter package. It comes with instructions and reflectors of all sizes.

Dots & Dashes

She asked me to get creative as to where to put them. For starters, I decided to put them on my son’s rain coat, my make up bag and our umbrella. The reason for my make up bag, is that we are going camping this Summer and I want to be able to find it quickly as it seconds as an emergency medical bag.

My umbrella

My make up bag

Applying the reflectors was as easy as peeling the stickers off the back and sticking it on the objects I wanted to reflect. My son usually doesn’t go out at night wearing his rain coat, but I wanted to see how well it worked and stuck to his coat. It worked perfectly and we shined a light on the reflector and it worked like a charm.

Dots & Dashes have kits that start from $5.00 and go all the way up to $250 (this has 24 kits in it and is used for fundraisers). So if you have children or even walk a lot in the cold dark rain, or cycle, this is perfect for you. If you’re a teacher at a school, this would make a great fundraiser for your school or classroom.

You can contact Claire at 604-551-7799, or on Facebook at Dots and Dashes.

Claire has been kind enough to giveaway 5 Dots and Dashes starter kits to Vodka Infused Lemonade readers. Unfortunately this is only open to Canadian Residents. Please follow the Rafflecopter instructions below. Good luck.
