Building A Summer Wardrobe: Pants & Shorts & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

In case you’ve missed it, I have been nominated for Vancouver’s Top Mom blogger. You can vote once a week for 2 weeks. It runs from Friday May 23 until Friday June 6. On Monday I featured blazers, cardigans, vests and jean jackets, on Tuesday I featured t-shirts, tank tops and blouses, on Wednesday I featured dresses and skirts and today I’m featuring shorts and pants. Pants and shorts come in all different shapes, sizes, colours and textures. Summer is the perfect time to experiment with colour and length of pants and shorts. Sure some lengths don’t work well with certain heights, but until you’ve tried it on, you don’t know. The key in finding the perfect length of shorts and pants is to see where it cuts you off. You always want it to cut you at your smallest not widest, therefore accentuating the smallest part of you, not the largest. I’ve definitely developed an affinity to cropped pants and my boyfriend jeans. They are the perfect pant to build on my previous posts. Add a tank top to a cute pair of cropped camouflage pant and a cardigan and you’re set.

Birthday Extravaganza, Overcoming Nerves & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

I mentioned earlier this week that we celebrated my son’s birthday this past weekend. Boy was it fun!!! We had a family dinner on Saturday, which was filled with a bit of excitement as we had a Chicken Pox scare. Thankfully it was just a virus and not the Chicken Pox. On Sunday it was my son’s first dance competition. It was a bit challenging to get him to go, since he was very nervous. He said he would rather go to the doctor then go to his performance. We discussed that it is completely normal to be nervous but that you can’t not do something because of that. He had his whole dance team counting on him. Knowing that Gingerale seems to calm his tummy, I made sure to bring some. We got to the competition, got him changed, all while trying to keep things low key. He sipped on his Gingerale and they got busy practicing. Before I knew it, he had a huge smile on his face. We had to go to the bathroom before heading out on stage and while in the bathroom, he thanked me for saving the day. He said that I saved the day with Gingerale and that his tummy isn’t nervous anymore. They danced their little hearts out and ended up winning High Gold, the highest honour. I couldn’t have been prouder of that little man. He realized that he can overcome his fears and I’m so happy. Gotta say I was a little worried that it would back fire on us, but it didn’t. It showed him that he can do anything and that nerves are normal. Once he got into the swing of things, his nerves went away. I am so proud of that little monkey. As you can see we had a very exciting weekend and the fun just continues to this weekend, where we are having his birthday with his little friends.

Wine, Cupcakes, Jewelry & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

Saturday night I had some girlfriend’s over to share some fabulous wine, cupcakes, appetizers and peruse some Stella & Dot jewelry (I’m a huge fan in case you didn’t notice :!!!). I had all the great intentions in the world to take lots of fabulous pictures, but being the hostess, I got busy and I forgot. I did manage to get a picture of some of the fabulous red wines we enjoyed, the cupcakes I made and the outfit I wore.

All 3 red wines are a must. They all cost under $20 and are all fabulous. Hot Flash is a red blend made by women for women. The perfect wine for my girl’s night. Got lots of compliments on it. Wolf Blass Cab/Sauv is one of my favourite red wines and Apothic Red is quickly becoming another favourite.
