Fitwells For Women Review & Giveaway

Fitwells For Women

I just finished my one month free trial to Fitwells for Women. You can read all about my first week here. I had an amazing month. I feel better about myself, my body looks and feels better, is more toned, leaner and muscular. I have more energy and I feel better about myself. I know that I wrote this twice, back to back, but it’s important. I was feeling pretty crappy about myself at the end of the Summer. I was lethargic, had indigestion issues, and felt really bloated. After my first week of working out, I was already feeling better.

Here’s the thing, it’s so hard to get motivated to get back into shape, but it’s not an option, it’s mandatory!!!!! It should be regarded the same as eating and breathing. We moms, especially, find a myriad of excuses, mainly surrounding our children, of why we don’t have time to look after ourselves. I’m here to tell you that if you don’t take care of yourself, no one else will!!!!!!!! I agree that it’s hard to find the time to workout, between school runs, breastfeeding, house maintaining, work and life, but it can be done. It must be done!!!!!!

This is why I haven’t blogged much this past month. I’ve changed my focus on getting myself emotionally, physically and spiritually healthier!!!!! I HAD TO!!!! I HAVE TO!!!! It was all starting to catch up to me. I was irritable, negative, exhausted and I wasn’t liking where I was heading. This past month has been a game changer for me. I finally put myself first. I told my son that he is coming with Mama to workout and that he is going to play with other kids in childminding. We went in, the ladies were super friendly and welcoming and he fit right in. He even was excited to know that we were coming back. I know that it may not be the same easy experience for yourself, but you need to do it. I see little babies in there. I don’t know if I could leave my newborn in there, but I’m impressed with those moms who could. For 1 hour, I gave my body, mind and soul the TLC it needed. I’m so focused on looking after everyone else (both at work and at home) that I’ve really neglected me.

What I enjoy about Fitwells for Women is that there are women in all different shapes and at different fitness levels. No one makes you feel bad if you can’t do an exercise. There are a few that I can’t do, because of my back, and I let the instructor know and she gives me something else to do. No one makes you feel bad for not being able to do an exercise. It’s about your fitness level and how comfortable you are. It’s also about sweating your ass off and feeling amazing afterwards. It’s about looking at the clock and seeing that you did it!!!! You just finished an one hour long intense class. You did it!!!!!!

So ladies join me and my fellow bloggers for this amazing 3 month membership giveaway to Fitwells for Women. There’s no time like the present to start. How can we expect our kids to be healthy if we aren’t ?!?!?!?! We have to lead by example. My son is proud of me and he tells me that. It makes me feel good and I like that he sees that I’m working hard to stay healthy. I want to stay healthy for myself, for him and for my husband. I want to be around for many years to come.

I really hope to see some of you ladies there. If you see me, come and say hi. I would love to see other moms out there with me busting their asses off and feeling empowered and good about ourselves!!!!

I know you’re thinking “didn’t she just do a post about a maxi dress?” Yup I did, but like I mentioned yesterday, I can’t get enough of them. I love it because I can wear it around the house, or out for a play date or even out for lunch with friends. It all depends on how you style it. The picture was taken after many hours outside and I still have my bathing suit on.

Seersucker Blazer 3 Ways: Splurge vs. Save

Vancouver Top 30 Mom Blogger

I’m so excited and honoured to announce that Vodka Infused Lemonade was nominated for Vancouver’s Top 30 Mom blogs!!!!! It’s nice to be recognized and I’m really looking forward to celebrating with my 29 fellow nominees, who are all amazing women. I’ll post more information this upcoming Friday May 23 as to how you can help me become Vancouver’s Top Mom Blogger :) First prize is an amazing getaway for two and to be honest I salivated when I saw that. It’s been 2.5 years since my husband and I had a chance to getaway just the two of us and even that was amidst much stress over my husband finding a new job. So this would be much needed and appreciated. Regardless, I’m very excited and thankful to be nominated. If you would like to take a look at my bio, click here.

I was contacted by Credit Card Insider (an online company designed to help you use your credit card responsibly) to participate in a blogger challenge to write a post on Splurge vs. Save. I am to take an item that I’ve had my eye on, but is quite pricey and find an equivalent. It was perfect timing as I’ve had my eye on this Seersucker blazer from J Crew.

Seersucker Blazer

Blazer (J Crew).

Problem is that it’s $ 218. I have been patiently waiting for it to go on sale. Then this weekend, I was at the Gap and they had this amazing sale on and I found the same blazer on sale for $60. Original price $98. I was so excited and I knew that it was mean’t to be mine!!!!!

Seersucker Blazer

Blazer (Gap).

Should I have splurged or saved? I am very happy that I saved. The jacket fits amazing and I saved a boat load of money. Do you splurge or save on items that you must have?

Since purchasing this fantastic blazer on Saturday, I’ve worn it twice. I love the fit, texture, striped pattern and the fact that it’s neutral, you can wear it with anything. You guys all know my love for blazers, I just can’t seem to get enough. This blazer will not only be extremely versatile in my closet, it’s a timeless piece that I will find myself gravitate towards for many years to come. Below are 3 great ways to wear this cute blazer.

Seersucker Blazer

Style it with shorts, blouse and sandals

Blazer (Gap). Shorts (Reitmans). Blouse (Jacob). Sandals (Aldo). Necklace & Bracelet (Stella & Dot). Purse (J Crew).

Here are 2 great options, one a splurge the other save:

May this blog inspire you to check out other options of items you like before you spend a lot of money on it. Sometimes it’s worth spending the extra money, but in this case, I don’t think that the extra $120 would be worth it.

Pink, White & Stripes

A few weeks back, Mother Nature decided to be kind to us and she showered us with sunshine and a beautiful warm day. I decided to break out my white skirt for the occasion. I love this skirt because the fabric is thick but not too warm and it has lining underneath so that you don’t have to worry about showing the world your underwear colour. Here’s hoping for some more hot weather coming our way.

Here’s a better picture of the skirt. It has cute lace details on it.

I’ve got some exciting news. We finally got a new camera!!! We got a Canon Rebel T3i. So excited!!!!!! I’m still trying to get the hang of it and learn all the different settings, but I’m really looking forward to having better pictures of my outfits. I can’t believe the difference it makes having a good camera. Don’t get me wrong a point and shoot is a great camera but it doesn’t compare to the quality of an SLR camera. My favourite feature is the ability to take continuous pictures. I took like 20 pictures of my son jumping on his trampoline, all taken at various different stages of his jump. Played back, it looks like a mini movie. I love it. I’m hoping to have some new fashion posts taken with the camera this week!!!

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day.

May this blog inspire you to purchase a fabulous white skirt for Spring/Summer.

Mother’s Day & Urban Decay Eye Palette Giveaway

Mother's Day

Mother’s Day is this Sunday and my husband has promised me that I am going to love it. It’s been a very hectic couple of weeks and we haven’t had any down time, so my husband promises Sunday to be a very relaxing day for us, especially for me. Honestly all I want for Mother’s day is to spend it with my 2 favourite people: my husband and son, to be with them without any distractions and to honestly not have to cook or clean. I can’t wait!!!!! :)

Mother's Day

For me being a mother has been the most rewarding, frustrating, emotionally draining experience of my life. It has taught me patience beyond anything that I thought I was capable of. It has shown me that just when I think I can’t give anymore, I can. As a mom I have reserves saved for days where I just don’t think I can do it anymore. Being a mother to my son fills me absolute joy and love and wonderment. I stop myself and look at my son and realize that I made this amazing being. It also terrifies me think that I’m also 100% responsible for him, to raise him, to guide, to nurture him. It has not been easy, filled with lots of bumps and many, many, many mistakes along the way, but I wouldn’t change any of it.

So this Mother’s Day, please take some time for yourself, to reflect on your role as a mother, to rejuvenate yourself and thank yourself for being the best mom you can be. Most importantly HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!!!!!!!!!

Shorts 5 Ways

I’m so excited for shorts season to finally begin. The weather here has been taunting us. Mother Nature gives us a couple of gorgeous days, and then takes it back and gives us cold and the rain. But ever the optimist, I’m hoping that in a few weeks the warm weather will be here to stay. When I think of Summer, I think of shorts. I think of getting my pasty white legs tanned. I love that shorts come in all shapes, sizes and lengths. Gotta say that I’m kind of liking the short shorts, not the Daisy Duke kind, but the ones that still flatter those of us that are over 30 and are mothers. Below are 5 different ways I styled shorts.

Shorts

All of these shorts are on sale until May 7 for $15.

I was not sponsored by Old Navy. This is just a great deal and wanted to share it with others.

Shorts are not just for the park anymore. You can dress them up with a blazer and heels or dress them down with a simple white tee and sandals. There are so many different ways you can wear shorts. My favourite way is to add a blazer, t-shirt and wedges. Shorts are so versatile and will make a great addition to your wardrobe. Try getting a printed pair and see all the fabulous outfits you can make.

May this blog inspire you to purchase some shorts this Spring and see all the great outfits you can create.

Pink, Stripes & Pangea Giveaway

One of my favourite blazers is this peachy pink one from Banana Republic. I can’t get enough of it. I love wearing it with a white top, skinny jeans, statement necklace and my striped loafers. I’m really looking forward to pairing it with some dresses and shorts once this weather finally warms up.

Pangea Organics Giveaway

In the past 6 years I’ve made a conscious effort to try and minimize the amount of chemicals my family and I ingest, from make up, to every day household cleaning products, to beauty products to food. Sometimes it’s harder to find affordable, chemical free products and Pangea Organics is a great option.

I’ve teamed up with Pangea Organics Canada to giveaway their fabulous Canadian Pine with white sage Hand Soap and Egyptian Fennel with grapefruit and sweet orange lip balm. Pangea Organics is a Canadian company based out of Vancouver who strive to “ALWAYS: Nurturing, Handcrafted, Organic, Fair Trade (whenever possible), and Cruelty-Free; NEVER:Petroleum, Sulfates or Detergents, Synthetic Preservatives, Artificial Colors or Fragrances, or GMOs“.

Pangea Organics

Pangea Organics kindly sent over their Canadian Pine with white sage Hand Soap and Egyptian Fennel with grapefruit and sweet orange lip balm. I’m not the biggest fan of pine scented things, but I really enjoy it in their hand wash. It’s just the right amount pine scent and it’s a nice alternative to the normal lavender scented ones I usually buy. I like that it doesn’t dry out your hands and it comes out in the form of foam. Their lip balm is an interesting combination of scents: fennel, grapefruit and orange. I like that it’s bigger than the traditional size of lip balm. I find that it leaves your lips not sticky or too shiny and that it conditions your lips so that they feel nice and soft.

So here’s your chance to win their wonderful Canadian Pine with white sage Hand Soap and Egyptian Fennel with grapefruit and sweet orange lip balm. Just follow the Rafflectoper instructions below. Contest runs until Wednesday May 14 midnight PST and is open to both Canadian & US residents. Good luck everyone!!!!
