Graphic Tee 2 Ways

BEST QUOTE EVER!!!

When I was at the Vancouver Top Mom Blogger’s celebration a few weeks ago, I saw this quote on a t-shirt and it immediately made me think of myself and my husband. He is always telling me that I need to believe in myself and stop selling myself short, but it’s hard. Wearing this shirt reminds me that we all feel the same way. We are all battling with insecurity, self-image, self-love, etc. I love that when I wear this shirt, people stop and tell me how much they like the message. We all need to start believing in this, because this quote is true. So the next time you find yourself kicking yourself or doubting yourself, remember this quote and remember that we all feel this way.

Graphic Tee

This graphic tee has quickly become one of my favourite t’s to wear. What I like about it, besides the message is how versatile it is. I wore it with skinny jeans, red blazer and statement necklace to a friend’s son’s birthday and I also wore it with leggings and a denim vest. I like the fit, style, definitely the message. Graphic tee’s aren’t just for a casual look. Try dressing it up with a gorgeous statement necklace, blazer, and heels or pair it with your favourite maxi skirt and denim vest. Below are 2 ways that I styled this tee:

Pink, White & Stripes

A few weeks back, Mother Nature decided to be kind to us and she showered us with sunshine and a beautiful warm day. I decided to break out my white skirt for the occasion. I love this skirt because the fabric is thick but not too warm and it has lining underneath so that you don’t have to worry about showing the world your underwear colour. Here’s hoping for some more hot weather coming our way.

I’ve got some exciting news. We finally got a new camera!!! We got a Canon Rebel T3i. So excited!!!!!! I’m still trying to get the hang of it and learn all the different settings, but I’m really looking forward to having better pictures of my outfits. I can’t believe the difference it makes having a good camera. Don’t get me wrong a point and shoot is a great camera but it doesn’t compare to the quality of an SLR camera. My favourite feature is the ability to take continuous pictures. I took like 20 pictures of my son jumping on his trampoline, all taken at various different stages of his jump. Played back, it looks like a mini movie. I love it. I’m hoping to have some new fashion posts taken with the camera this week!!!

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day.

Dressing Up A Sweatshirt With A Statement Necklace

Somedays even I find it challenging to figure out what to wear. I’ve been dragging my heels about getting out of Holiday mode and outfit planning, so on Friday I decided to just add a statement necklace to a Sweatshirt. Sweatshirts are still very in style for Winter and instead of just wearing a simple one with skinny jeans and boots, I decided to spruce things up by adding a statement necklace. The sweatshirt is black and white and normally I would wear a black necklace, but I decided to be “bold” and wear a red one.

1 Dress 4 Ways

I bought this dress back in September and immediately fell in love with the cut and style of it. It’s simple, versatile and I love the fact that it has pockets. You can style it with a simple statement necklace and a leather jacket or go more preppy layering a button top underneath it and adding a blazer or just throw a boyfriend sweater over it. You can add a belt, but I didn’t think of that until just now :) While I was trying it on the sales associate pointed out that layering a button top underneath it would be another great way to wear it. Hence how today’s post came to be: 1 Dress, 4 Ways!!!!!!

Blazer, Polka Dot Blouse and Red Statement Necklace

As I was looking at the other post where I wore this necklace, I realized that I gave that post the same title as I was giving this one. Good thing I checked it out. This is an outfit I wore last Thursday. I looked in my closet and saw this polka dot blouse and realized that I haven’t worn it in a while so I decided to pair it with a pair of skinny jeans, a boyfriend blazer, booties and Stella & Dot’s gorgeous Mae Necklace. I apologize for the picture quality as I had to take them indoors as it was pouring rain outside. I recently had a Stella & Dot party and purchased the Mae Necklace from Stella & Dot. When I first received it I wasn’t sure what I would wear it with, but it seems to work really well with polka dots. This necklace would go with pretty much anything in your closet. It’s a great way to spice up a neutral outfit. Great way to give it some colour and sparkle. Click here to see the other outfit I wore this necklace with.

Striped Skirt 5 Ways

I purchased this striped skirt last year and I’m disappointed with how little wear I’ve gotten out of it, so I decided to see all the different outfit combinations I could make out of this skirt. I’m sure that I have more than 5 but it’s a good start. I like this skirt for it’s length, the fact that it’s warm and the obvious, it has stripes!!!!! You can easily dress this skirt up for down depending on the occasion. Add a sequin top and heels to dress it up or wear it with a simple t-shirt and vest with boots. A striped skirt is a great alternative to your normal solid coloured pencil skirt.

Date Night & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

Saturday night, my husband and I had a rare date night out and we headed out with another couple to Kobe’s restaurant in downtown Vancouver. We had an amazing time. The chef prepares your food right in front of your eyes. The food was absolutely amazing. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Great atmosphere, food and drinks :).

Thanksgiving: Remembering That It’s Not Just About theTurkey, Fall Must-Haves and Not Your Average Pumpkin Pie Recipe

Jacket, Shirt and Pant (Gap). Scarf (Jacob). Shoes (Aldo).

This is what I wore today. I’m extremely tired from yesterday’s excursion with my son’s preschool to the Corn Maze. I basically slept while he napped and then spent most of the evening in bed with chest pain. It’s come back, not as bad, but it’s there taunting me :(. I guess I haven’t rested as much as I should have. Anyways the weekend is fast approaching, so I’ll get a chance to get some more R and R. Below are pictures of our Corn Maze adventure.

Aiden had the time of his little life. We were both exhausted and quite dirty from our field trip.

Canadian Thanksgiving is coming up his Monday October 8. Thanksgiving for me is not just about the Turkey, or in our case the roast beast, it’s about remembering to be grateful for what we have. We get so caught up in the preparations for Thanksgiving, the cooking of the meal, the making of the desserts, the decorating of the house, that we forget to actually stop and be thankful for all the wonderful things in our lives. Although this past year has plagued us with some rotten luck, my family and I are still so very lucky. We are blessed with our beautiful home, wonderful, supportive friends and family, and to some extent our health (mine thankfully is on the mend, slowly). I know that I am guilty of focusing on the negatives in our lives, but I want to teach my son to be thankful for all the good that is in it, because we have a lot. I told my husband and son that on Monday I want to go around the table and get everyone, including our guests, to say what they are thankful for. It all starts at home. It starts with us, the parents, teaching our kids, because we all know they learn by example. We need to focus more on what we have, rather than what we don’t have. Here are my reasons why I am thankful this Thanksgiving.

1. For the health of myself and my family. Although my health hasn’t been perfect these past few weeks, I am healing. I didn’t need to be hospitalized or needed any further interventions. My son is growing like a weed and my husband is as healthy as a horse (thank God, because someone has to take care of me :)).

2. To be blessed with so many caring and wonderful friends. I know that I keep saying this, but it’s true. Our friends really stepped up to the plate and came to our aide with loads of positive thoughts, prayers, offers to help and by filling my fridge and freezer with great food.

3. To live in our beautiful home. It hasn’t been easy this past year, with my husband losing his job, but we are able to continue to live in it. We are so proud of what our home represents. It represents ourselves, our love, our family and most importantly our heart. We have had so many compliments on how “homey” our home feels. It makes us feel good. We want our friends to make themselves feel at home. I’ve been to too many homes, where you walk in and you don’t see a stitch of personality anywhere. I like when you see kid’s artwork, their toys, people’s personality in their home. We take great pride in our home, and we love to share it with our friends.

4. My husband has a job!!!!!

5. For my wonderful boys. I have the best husband and son. They have taken the best care of me these past few weeks, and I know that I wouldn’t have healed as well without all their TLC.

6. My son is in preschool and I get a few hours to myself :). It’s not much, and is filled with errand running, but it gives me a bit of a break. It’s also teaching him independence, self-confidence, how to socialize with other kids and how to solve problems without Mama around.

7. For my job, for being allowed to do what I love. It’s not always easy and is full of politics, but I love working with the moms and bringing babies into this world.

8. My blog. My blog has given me a voice and has allowed me to share my experiences with other women. It has been therapeutic and cathartic, giving me a platform to share my trials and tribulations.

9. The opportunity to make cupcakes for an inner city school every month. Last year, a school in the East side was struggling. Kids were coming to school without proper food, footwear, and/or clothing. I offered to make cupcakes for the kids every month for their birthdays. I truly believe that every child deserves to celebrate their birthday. Their circumstances are not their fault, and shouldn’t be punished for it. It makes me feel incredibly blessed to be able to give back to the community ). This makes it my second year doing this.

10. To live in a country where I have the freedom of speech, to work, to wear whatever I want, to practice whatever religion I please, the freedom of choice, to vote, etc. I complain, like many of us, about politics and life, but we can’t forget our freedom. There are many, many people out there living in oppression and fear. They don’t have the same rights. Whenever I frustrated about things here, I try to remind myself that things could be so much worse.

11. My husband had the chance to meet his idol: James Hetfield this past August :).

Take the time this weekend to reflect upon what you are thankful for.

To change things up a bit, here are my must-have items for Fall. For the past month or so I’ve been blogging about different Fall trends, but here they are in a nice, neat nutshell. You can click on the links below to read my previous posts on some of the must have items.

1. Find yourself some great nail polish. The colors that I like for Fall are deep shades of blue (Opening Midnight), red (Mr. Right Now), black (What’s a Tire Jack), grey (Dark Room) and purple (Seriously, It’s a Naan Issue). All available at Sephora by OPI.

2. Get yourself a pair of boots or 2 or 3 :). Consider rain boots, booties, riding boots, Ugg type boots and high heel ones.

3. Add sexy patent heels to your wardrobe. Nude is very popular and black is classic.

4. Have some fantastic jeans in your closet. They can be trouser, boyfriend, skinny, doesn’t matter, as long as they fit well and make you feel pretty.

5. Purchase some sweaters. I would recommend a turtleneck, a cowl-neck sweater, a chunky cardigan and one with some simple detail, like sequins on the collar.

Turtleneck (R W and Co). Skirt (Gap). Boots (Browns) Tights (Jacob).

Sweater (Old Navy). Jeans (Gap). Shoes (Toms). Bracelet (Stella and Dot). Watch (Coach).

Sweater (R W and Co). Leggings (Jacob). Hunter Boots (Gift).

Now the sweater belted with flats.

Sweater (R W and Co). Leggings and belt (Jacob). Shoes (Aldo).

6. Boyfriend Blazer. Both blazers from R W and Co.

7. Leggings and tights. Great for under bulky sweaters, or skirts.

8. A sexy pencil skirt. I think every girl should own at least one, even if you don’t work in an office. They are very versatile and flattering on all body shapes. Think about something in lace or what about a tweed!!!

Tweed Skirt (R W and Co). Cardigan (Jacob). T-Shirt (Gap). Boots (Nine West). Necklace (Banana Republic). Watch (Michael Kors). Bracelet (Poshlocket).

Now the cardigan belted. Belt from Jacob.

Tweed skirt with a turtleneck

Turtleneck and Skirt (R W and Co). Boots (Nine West). Tights (Jacob).

With a blouse and heels. Sorry about the sunlight. There was no place else for me to take the picture.

Top (Mexx). Skirt (R W and Co). Necklace (Banana Republic). Shoes (Aldo).

Lace Skirt

Top and Skirt (Jacob). Shoes (Aldo).

9. Statement necklace. Just because you are bundled up in a sweater or coat, doesn’t mean you can’t have some bling and/or sparkle underneath there :).

10. White t-shirt. Great layering piece, under sweaters, jackets, cardigans and blazers.

11. Colored pair of pants. The huge trend for this Fall is burgundy.

Blazer and Pants (R W and Co). Top (Jacob). Shoes (Aldo). Bracelet (Etsy). Watch (Michael Kors). Necklace (Banana Republic).

A casual look.

Top (Gap). Pants (R W and Co). Shoes (Fergalicious). Necklace (Etsy).

12. Find yourself a sexy blouse or 2. You can wear them with a trouser jean or skinnies, or with your very versatile pencil skirt.

Blouse with skinny jeans and heels. Wore this out last Friday.

Blouse and Jeans (R W and Co). Shoes (Aldo). Necklace (Stella and Dot). Bracelet (Etsy). Watch (Michael Kors).

Same top with a tweed pencil skirt

Top and Skirt (R W and Co). Necklace (Stella an Dot). Shoes (Aldo). Bracelet (Etsy). Watch (Michael Kors).

Blouse with trouser jeans and heels. This was inspired by an outfit I found on Pinterest.

This is from Pinterest.

My version with trouser jeans but could definitely be done with skinny jeans or boyfriend jeans.

13. Great Jacket.

14. Collared shirt, whether is Gingham, Oxford or Chambray. They layer well with sweaters and cardigans.

I’ve shown an Oxford shirt layered under a sweater with cuffed jeans and heels.

Oxford Shirt (Jacob). Sweater (Old Navy). Jeans (R W and Co). Shoes (Aldo). Watch (Michael Kors). Bracelets (Poshlocket).

15. Get yourself a hat and some colorful scarves. These can be found at Old Navy and the Gap and its 30% off this weekend on line.

Last but not least, here is a great Pumpkin Chiffon Pie Recipe courteosy of Oprah’s friend Christine Ferrare. It’s a yummy alternative to the classic pumpkin pie and you don’t have to bake it.

Cristina Ferrare's pumpkin chiffon pie

When topping off a holiday meal, Cristina Ferrare suggests making pumpkin chiffon rather than regular pumpkin pie. It’s a lighter dessert option for those who are already stuffed!

Happy Early Thanksgiving Everyone!!!!

In Love with Fall and Different Ways to Spruce up Your Jeans

Jacket (R W and Co). Jeans and T-shirt (Gap). Cardigan (H and M). Shoes (Aldo). Necklace (Banana Republic).

This is what I wore today. I know this look is preppy, but that’s pretty much my style. It’s comfortable, makes me feel pretty, and the jacket is nice and warm, since Fall has finally arrived. I love wearing layers, because I’m always cold. This way I can take my jacket off and still be warm from my cardigan :).

Before I get into my blog, a quick health update. I’m doing much better, my pain is under control (still have it, but manageable), my echo didn’t show any fluid around my heart (but I still need a Cardiologist to confirm that), and I’m trying to tackle every day life on my own this week. My wonderful husband went back to work yesterday so it’s just my son and I. I would be lying if I didn’t say that I’m exhausted and nervous about how this week is going to go. But I’ve got great support and help if needed.

You truly know who your real friends are in a crisis situation. Our friends have been amazing. I have had many offers to come and help watch my son, so I can nap. Our fridge is well stocked with food thanks to my dear friends. Thanksgiving is next Monday, which means lots of yummy food this weekend, that I don’t have to prepare by myself!!! :) I have to say that I am so grateful for our wonderful friends. I don’t know how I would have gotten through this without all of your positive thoughts and prayers. Thank you to everyone, especially my BOOTCAMP ladies!!!! Can’t wait to get back and get my ass kicked!! :)

Before this Fall, I was never a fan of this season. I found it to be sad. Everything is dying, it’s getting darker outside earlier, its colder, rain season is upon us. But this year, I look at Fall differently. I’m actually learning to embrace it. Like it our not, it comes around every year, and I should learn to accept it!!! When you really think about it, Fall is a beautiful season, full of gorgeous colors, crisp, sunny days and great outdoor activities. It’s the calm before the Winter storm. Here are my 11 reasons why I love Fall.

1. Pumpkin Spiced Latte

2. Taking my son to the Corn Maze

3. Taking my son to the Pumpkin Patch 4. Building fires in our wood burning fireplace

5. Cozy, warm sweaters

6. Hot chocolate by the warm fire

7. Halloween. We absolutely love Halloween in our house!!! My son is totally into it this year. He can’t wait to go Trick-or-Treating.
8. Mulled Wine. I love adding some cinnamon sticks, oranges to some warmed up red wine.

9. Thanksgiving. Although its been a tough year for us, we still have a lot to be grateful for. I love getting together with our god son’s and our families to celebrate and feast on delicious roast beast :) (I’m the only one that likes Turkey in the family).

10. The leaves changing colors. My favorite are the deep red leaves on the trees.

11. Taking a walk on a sunny, crisp Fall day with my boys :)

I was reading the newest edition of People’s Style Watch and they had an article about different ways to switch up your jeans look. So my fashion tip for this blog is to look in your closet and see how many ways you can spruce up your jeans. Here they are:

1. Try a camouflage print. I’m not really into them, but they are supposed to be the new big pattern for Fall.

Pants (Gap)

2. Add a cuff to your jeans. This gives it a fresh, new look without having to buy a new pair.

Sweater (Old Navy). White Oxford Shirt (Jacob). Jeans (R W and Co). Heels (Aldo). Watch (Michael Kors). Bracelets (Poshlocket, Poshlocket).

3. Mix masculine with the feminine. Add a sweatshirt to a skinny jean and either a ballet flat or heels.

Sweater (American Eagle). Jeans (R W and Co). Booties (Aldo). Bracelets (Stella and Dot, Stella and Dot). Watch (Coach).

4. Add a great accessory like a statement necklace or earrings.

Jacket and Jeans (R W and Co). Booties (Aldo). Tank Top (Jacob). Necklace (Etsy).

5. Go Preppy

Cardigan and Oxford Shirt (Jacob). Jeans (R W and Co). Flats (Aldo). Necklace (Etsy). Belt (American Eagle).

6. Pair it with cozy sweater and booties.

Sweater and T-Shirt and Jeans (Gap). Bracelets (Stella and Dot). Watch (Michael Kors). Boots (Fergalicious).

May this blog inspire you to “fall” in love with Fall and to spruce up your jeans.

Happy Tuesday Everyone!!!! :)
