Transitioning Your Denim Vest From Summer To Fall

I’ve been wanting to get back to my regular Wednesday posts about 1 item different ways and was thinking of having a Fall component to it. The lovely Salma, from The Write Balance, gave me the idea for today’s post. Since I can’t get enough of denim vests, she suggested a post on transitioning your denim vest to fall. So here it is ladies, transitioning your denim vest from Summer to Fall.

Denim Vest

I’ve got four great looks to help you ladies transition your favourite Summer cover up and take it into Fall. Three of the looks are ones that I currently have and the last one is one that I am hoping to own soon: camo pants. I’m hoping to add it to my wardrobe soon and you bet I’ll be doing a post on how to style them different ways. Stay tuned… :)

There’s really no difference in styling a denim vest from Summer to Fall. It’s a cover up for both seasons and that’s exactly how I approached styling it. Style it with a baseball sweater and coloured jeans, or with leather leggings and a t-shirt with a statement necklace or over a dress and booties or with camo pants and a graphic tee. The possibilities are endless. Thanks Salma for the inspiration. I was ready to put it aside for next Spring and I thank you for the inspiration.

I couldn’t decide between flats or heels, so I decided to style it both ways.

The idea of styling your denim vest is to think of it as a simple cover up, like a cardigan or blazer. It completes your outfit. Next time you’re trying to figure out what to wear it with, try throwing it over black jeans and a simple tee.

May this blog inspire you to see the different ways you can wear your denim vest and create great combinations to transition it from Summer to Fall.

Favourite Summer Outfits

New post today!!!!! Woo Hoo!!!!!!!! If you follow me on Instagram, yesterday you got a sneak peak into today’s post. Since Summer still is in full swing here, I wanted to recap my favourite looks and items of the Summer. I owe today’s post to my wonderful husband, who made breakfast yesterday so I could blog, before we had to tackle some chores, shopping and a bbq at a friend’s place.

By far my favourite purchase and most beloved item of the Summer has to be my denim vest. At first I was reluctant to buy it. Wasn’t sure if I would get enough use out of it. Was I ever wrong!!! I wore it so much. It’s such a great layering piece over anything: dresses, skirts, shorts and the perfect completer piece. On Saturday I wore it to the zoo with shorts and a tank top, again can be seen on Instagram.

Denim Vest

The next item that I couldn’t get enough of is dresses. Long or short, I wanted to wear them as much as possible, considering all I pretty much wear in the Winter are pants. Definitely my favourite style of dress is the Maxi dress. It’s elegant, simple, light and easily dressed up.

dresses

Shorts were also another favourite of mine, especially my cuffed denim ones and my printed ones. As you can see, a theme is emerging with my Summer outfits: denim vest!!!!! Like I wrote earlier, I just couldn’t get enough of it. Again like with the dresses, shorts also have a short life span here in Vancouver so I tried to wear them as much as possible. I loved wearing them with a top and blazer.

Shorts

Last but certainly not least I can’t forget to mention my love of skirts. Over the years, I’ve acquired quite the collection. The sample below is only a fraction of the skirts I own. I love pairing them with a tank top and some bling. One of my favourite outfits, turned out to be one that I had never worn before. My striped skirt with a sleeveless polka dot blouse and my wedges. Sometimes experimenting pays off. I’m looking forward to wearing this combination more next Spring/Summer.

Skirts

Which one is your favourite look? Gotta say it’s a tie between the polka dot blouse and striped skirt and my tulip dress and denim vest.

May this blog inspire you to experiment with what you have in your wardrobe. You’d be surprised at the outfits just waiting to be created.

Looking forward to showing you all my favourite Fall trends. You can follow me on Instagram to see my daily outfits, see what I’m up to and get sneak peaks into my favourite Fall trends.

Striped Maxi, Denim Vest & eShakti Giveaway

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes. I had a wonderful birthday weekend. I’ll post more about it on Thursday.

The weather has kind of cooled down so yesterday I wore my maxi dress with a denim vest. It wasn’t cool enough for a jacket, the vest was perfect. So the next time you’re finding that you don’t want to wear a cardigan or blazer, try adding a denim jacket to your outfit. It’s a great way to change up your look.

Patterned Shorts 3 Ways

When Summer arrives, I can hardly wait to pull out my shorts. One of my favourites is my pink patterned ones. The pink is a nice soft shade allowing me to pair it with many things. Try wearing it with a tank top and denim vest or a graphic tee and jean jacket or a t-shirt and blazer. Other great ways to wear it would be with a Chambray top, button shirt or light weight sweater. You could also try adding heels, wedges, flats or runners to change things up. Below are 3 ways I like to wear my patterned shorts:

Vest (Old Navy). Shorts & Tank Top (Gap). Necklace (My Name Necklace). Sandals (Aldo). Purse & Watch (Michael Kors). Bracelet (Stella & Dot).

Style it with a graphic tee, jean jacket and runners

Patterned shorts are a great way to spruce up your outfit. The key is to keep the top simple. You can take a colour from the shorts and feature that colour in the top, like I did with my graphic tee. The key is to play around with it. Try mixing patterns, adding a vest or jacket, accessorizing. Have fun with patterned shorts. You don’t have to be afraid of them.

The Perfect Summer Face With Skoah

I mentioned in my post about the Vancouver Top Mom Blogger celebration that the Vancouver based skin care company Skoah was there. I was pleasantly surprised that not only are they a Canadian company, but that they are located here in my backyard. What drew me to reach out to Skoah was that their products are natural! They state that they use paraben free preservatives. I try my best to use as natural face products, make up, nail polish as possible. Today I’m teaming up with Skoah to show you the perfect Summer face.

Skoah kindly sent over 3 must have beauty products for the perfect summer face: Chiik Tint blush, Super Gloss lipgloss and Illuminated Perfecting Tint.

Skoah

I used these products for the first time on Saturday and I was pleasantly surprised. I’ve never used a tinted moisturizer before and I love how it left my skin glowing, giving it the perfect dewey look. I rubbed the cream blush on the apples of my cheek leaving a subtle hint of colour and then finished off my look with a coloured lip gloss. I like that the lip gloss has some colour and that it doesn’t leave your lips feeling sticky. I hate it when my lips literally stick together from the gloss. I also like that all 3 items don’t wear off quickly. As a busy mom, I don’t have time to reapply make up through out the day.

I like to keep my make up simple in the Summer, especially when it gets super warm. For this look I kept my eyeshadow simple, added eyeliner, mascara, used Skoah’s tinted moisturized, added a powder to set it, then added Skoah’s blush and finished off the look with Skoah’s lipgloss. I love the final result; simple sun-kissed look. I still feel made up without feeling like my makeup is heavy.

On Monday I also used Skoah’s make up and here is the finished look:

Graphic Tee 2 Ways

BEST QUOTE EVER!!!

When I was at the Vancouver Top Mom Blogger’s celebration a few weeks ago, I saw this quote on a t-shirt and it immediately made me think of myself and my husband. He is always telling me that I need to believe in myself and stop selling myself short, but it’s hard. Wearing this shirt reminds me that we all feel the same way. We are all battling with insecurity, self-image, self-love, etc. I love that when I wear this shirt, people stop and tell me how much they like the message. We all need to start believing in this, because this quote is true. So the next time you find yourself kicking yourself or doubting yourself, remember this quote and remember that we all feel this way.

Graphic Tee

This graphic tee has quickly become one of my favourite t’s to wear. What I like about it, besides the message is how versatile it is. I wore it with skinny jeans, red blazer and statement necklace to a friend’s son’s birthday and I also wore it with leggings and a denim vest. I like the fit, style, definitely the message. Graphic tee’s aren’t just for a casual look. Try dressing it up with a gorgeous statement necklace, blazer, and heels or pair it with your favourite maxi skirt and denim vest. Below are 2 ways that I styled this tee:

Graphic Tee

Style it with a blazer, skinny jeans, flats and statement necklace

Graphic Tee

Blazer (J Crew). T-Shirt (JAC by Jacqueline Conoir). Jeans (J Brand c/o Aritzia). Flats (Tory Burch). Bracelet & Necklace (J Crew). Watch (Michael Kors).

Denim Vest 3 Ways & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

I’m back!!!!! I took the past few days off because honestly last week’s craziness finally caught up to me. Now I’m back with a great post on styling a denim vest 3 ways and with my weekly Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up :)

When I was doing my building your Summer wardrobe series, I fell in love with the denim vest. At first I wasn’t sure how to style it and if I would be able to get my money’s worth, but let me tell you, the denim vest is like a cardigan or blazer. It’s the perfect completer piece. You can style it over a dress, over a simple t-shirt with leggings or over a t-shirt and maxi skirt. The possibilities are endless. It’s the perfect Summer wardrobe staple. Below are 3 ways I styled my denim vest:

Denim Vest

Style it over a dress with runners, fedora and crossbody bag

Denim Vest

Vest (Old Navy). Dress (Gap). Runners (Converse c/o The Bay). Fedora (Aritzia). Purse (Fossil c/o The Bay). Bracelet (The Bay).

Style it with a graphic tee, leggings and flats

Style it with a maxi skirt, t-shirt and sandals

Denim Vest

Vest & Graphic Tee (Old Navy). Skirt (J Crew). Sandals (Aldo). Bracelet (Henry Lou).

Below are 3 great options for a denim vest:

Gap Denim Vest

As you can see a denim vest is a great alternative to a jean jacket, cardigan or blazer. It’s a neutral, basic piece that is easily incorporated into your wardrobe.
