Floral Dress 4 Ways

This dress has very quickly become one of my favourites and everyone else’s. I have never received so many compliments as I have as when I wear this dress. I recently wore it to a blogger event and to our Family pictures. Great hit everywhere. So today I’m going to show you four great ways to style this amazing dress. It’s the perfect dress to transition into Fall. Wear it with booties and a denim vest, or booties and a blazer for an evening look. You could even wear it with tights, belt, boots and cardigan for Winter.

How To Create An Outfit & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

Last week I needed to run to the grocery store and I was just going to put on a maxi dress and head out the door. Then it dawned on me that I could add a denim vest, my heart pendant and my cross-body bag to make my simple maxi dress into an outfit. Have you ever just walked out the door in simple jeans and t-shirt and then saw someone who added a necklace and blazer and thought wow, she sure looks put together??? That’s exactly what I was thinking as I was putting together my outfit. Why head out the door in a simple maxi when I can look and feel more put together??? It took me only a few extra minutes and I felt much better about myself.

The key to creating an outfit is to slowly build on it. Start with a blank canvas. In my case it was a simple maxi dress. Next step is to add a cardigan, blazer or a denim vest. The idea is to complete the look. You can also do that with a scarf, once the weather gets cooler. Next add some jewelry. A great statement necklace, bracelets, earrings, watch, hat, you name. The key is to add some subtle touches. Then add some cute shoes, in my case I decided on some sandals. I then completed my look with a cross-body bag. Again the purse can bring the entire outfit together. It may seem daunting but play around with your jewelry, with hats, scarves, purses, shoes. It’s exactly like dress up!!!!!!

The next time you’re putting together an outfit, consider adding some finishing touches like jewelry, hat, scarf, fabulous shoes or cardigan/blazer/denim vest to make an outfit out it.

Chambray & Stripes Day & Night

I got inspired for this next outfit by the lovely Carylee from More Pieces of Me. She styled a chambray top with a striped skirt. Love the result. So I decided to style my chambray and striped skirt 2 ways: one for the day and one for the evening. I’ll be honest I don’t have a job that requires me to wear heels, it really doesn’t require me to wear anything other than comfy scrubs and supportive shoes. So for me to wear this outfit with heels during the day is totally unrealistic. Imagine me chasing a toddler around the park in heels??? It would be quite entertaining to say the least :) I did, however, manage to come up with a very realistic day look for us busy moms chasing our kids around. For a day look try wear the chambray as a jacket over a graphic tee, converse runners and a cross-body bag. It’s still a polished look, but comfortable and realistic for a busy mom on the go. For an evening look try tying the chambray top, add heels, pearls and a colourful clutch.

Polka Dots and Stripes

I was inspired for this outfit by the wonderful Tara from Mix and Match Fashion. She styled a striped skirt with a cute sleeveless blouse. It gave me the idea of styling my red and white striped skirt with my sleeveless polka dot blouse. I don’t wear this blouse much and I’m trying to find new ways of styling it. I love how the outfit turned out.

Maxi Dress Altered

Here’s the story behind this maxi dress. I bought it last March from Old Navy and I was in love!!!! The colour, fit, style, everything, I just loved it. The problem was that it showed a bit too much cleavage for me. Not sure that showing so much cleavage would be appropriate for a play date. I wore it a few times, even tapped it so that it wouldn’t show so much of the ladies, but whenever I wore it, I felt self conscious. So finally I took it to get it stitched so that way I wouldn’t be so paranoid whenever I wore it. I’m so glad I did, because now I can finally wear it. Remember ladies if something doesn’t fit, get it altered!!!! It’s worth it. It only cost me $2 to get it fixed!!! You can see where it’s been sowed together, but I don’t mind because I feel more comfortable wearing it this way.

May this blog inspire you to get your clothes altered to fit you properly. I feel so much better wearing this dress. I’m no longer paranoid that I’m showing too much cleavage and that my ladies will hang out.

Striped Maxi, Denim Vest & eShakti Giveaway

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes. I had a wonderful birthday weekend. I’ll post more about it on Thursday.

The weather has kind of cooled down so yesterday I wore my maxi dress with a denim vest. It wasn’t cool enough for a jacket, the vest was perfect. So the next time you’re finding that you don’t want to wear a cardigan or blazer, try adding a denim jacket to your outfit. It’s a great way to change up your look.

I Feel Pretty & Style To Inspire Link Up

I wore this outfit last Wednesday and I’m not sure but I felt very pretty wearing it. I’m not trying to sound vain, but it did. I think it’s the colour of the skirt and how you can twirl in it. I felt very feminine, girly wearing it. Anyways do you guys ever wear something that makes you feel pretty?

Laid Back Birthday Celebration & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

This past Saturday I had a small, intimate birthday celebration with a few friends. The past few years I did a bigger thing with more people, but this year I just wanted to keep it quiet and simple. We headed downtown to Reflections, this amazing patio restaurant in Georgia Hotel. It’s located on the 4th floor and is absolutely gorgeous. A few months ago a friend and I went there for the first time and I feel in love with the scenery and the food. We had an amazing time. I had a glass of Sangria that was the size of my head. Needless to say between the heat and the size of the Sangria, one was more than enough. After dinner we headed to Black and Blue for more drinks and dessert. Again this restaurant did not disappoint. They had a fridge full of aging meat. It looked absolutely delicious. For those of you vegetarian, just ignore the above comment :). Thank you to the ladies for taking me out. I had a great relaxing evening celebrating my 35th birthday. My husband has something planned for this weekend as Saturday is my actual birthday. Can’t wait to see what that sneaky monkey has up his sleeve :)

Maxi Skirt Day To Night

It’s no secret that I absolutely adore anything maxi related: dresses, skirt, I’m in love. For today’s post I decided to show you how you can take a day look and make it into a night one. One of my favourite ways to wear my maxi skirt is with a simple white tank top, sandals and simple necklace. A great way to make it into a night look is to change your sandals to heels, add a statement necklace, blazer and clutch and you’re set to go. It’s an easy way to quickly change up your outfit from a day look into an evening one. You can also change up your make up by wearing a bright lip or smokey eyes.

Style it with a simple white tank top, sandals and tote for a day look

A maxi skirt is the perfect addition to your Summer wardrobe. It’s an easy piece to wear and to style.

May this blog inspire you to purchase a maxi skirt and see how you can take it from a day look into a night one.

Patterned Shorts 3 Ways

When Summer arrives, I can hardly wait to pull out my shorts. One of my favourites is my pink patterned ones. The pink is a nice soft shade allowing me to pair it with many things. Try wearing it with a tank top and denim vest or a graphic tee and jean jacket or a t-shirt and blazer. Other great ways to wear it would be with a Chambray top, button shirt or light weight sweater. You could also try adding heels, wedges, flats or runners to change things up. Below are 3 ways I like to wear my patterned shorts:

Patterned Shorts Style it with a tank top, denim vest and sandals

Below are 4 great options for patterned shorts:

Patterned Shorts

1/ 2/ 3/ 4

Patterned shorts are a great way to spruce up your outfit. The key is to keep the top simple. You can take a colour from the shorts and feature that colour in the top, like I did with my graphic tee. The key is to play around with it. Try mixing patterns, adding a vest or jacket, accessorizing. Have fun with patterned shorts. You don’t have to be afraid of them.
