How To Create An Outfit & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

Last week I needed to run to the grocery store and I was just going to put on a maxi dress and head out the door. Then it dawned on me that I could add a denim vest, my heart pendant and my cross-body bag to make my simple maxi dress into an outfit. Have you ever just walked out the door in simple jeans and t-shirt and then saw someone who added a necklace and blazer and thought wow, she sure looks put together??? That’s exactly what I was thinking as I was putting together my outfit. Why head out the door in a simple maxi when I can look and feel more put together??? It took me only a few extra minutes and I felt much better about myself.

Dress (Gap). Vest (Old Navy). Necklace (J Crew). Watch (Michael Kors). Bracelet (Stella & Dot). Purse (Fossil c/o The Bay).

The key to creating an outfit is to slowly build on it. Start with a blank canvas. In my case it was a simple maxi dress. Next step is to add a cardigan, blazer or a denim vest. The idea is to complete the look. You can also do that with a scarf, once the weather gets cooler. Next add some jewelry. A great statement necklace, bracelets, earrings, watch, hat, you name. The key is to add some subtle touches. Then add some cute shoes, in my case I decided on some sandals. I then completed my look with a cross-body bag. Again the purse can bring the entire outfit together. It may seem daunting but play around with your jewelry, with hats, scarves, purses, shoes. It’s exactly like dress up!!!!!!

The next time you’re putting together an outfit, consider adding some finishing touches like jewelry, hat, scarf, fabulous shoes or cardigan/blazer/denim vest to make an outfit out it.

Transitioning Your Wardrobe To Fall & Singing Makes Everyone Smile

I’m not sure about you guys but Fall is knocking on our door here in Vancouver. The gorgeous hot weather we had in July is sadly gone. I thought it would be nice to do some posts on how to transition your Summer wardrobe into Fall.

I absolutely love Maxi dresses (I have 4 dresses and 1 skirt) and I am deeply saddened that soon I will no longer be able to wear them. For those of you suffering the same fate, an easy way to transition your favourite Maxi dress to Fall is to add a jean jacket.

For those of you who liked my jeggings on yesterday’s post, they are from RW & Co., called Nathalie jeggings. It comes in 5 different colours.

Yesterday my son and I were in the mall running errands and we were singing together, he in his stroller and me pushing it. I didn’t really think too much of it and as we were getting in our car, this woman looked over and smiled at us. She did that a few times and then she came over to my car. She told me how much she enjoyed hearing Aiden and I sing together and she wanted to thank me for singing with him. She said it made her heart melt that in this age of technology, I wasn’t on my phone, but I was singing with my son. I told her that she happened to catch me at a good time, because it’s not always like this (earlier that day I was quite grumpy). Needless to say that singing with my son not only put me in a better mood but made this woman’s day. After she left I turned to my son and thanked him for singing with me and for taking me out of my miserable mood. I don’t know if that lady knows how good it made me feel to have her say that. Thank you my beautiful Aiden for always reminding this sometimes moody Mama to have fun.

May this blog inspire you to find ways to transition your favourite Summer items to Fall and to sing with your kids in public. It will make you feel better and make others smile.
