Wicked & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

Wicked

This past Saturday my girlfriend and I saw the musical Wicked. It had come here a few years ago, but I never saw it, and I’ve regretted it ever since. I tried to read the book a few times and I just couldn’t get into it so I think that’s why I was never interested in seeing it the first time it came. After hearing the amazing reviews, I made a decision that whenever it was coming to Vancouver next, I would see it. It did not disappoint!!!! From the opening scene of the monkeys, I was mesmerized. I love the spin of the “bad witch”. I like that there’s a back story and that there’s more than meets the eye.

I could totally relate to Elphaba’s character and how she felt like she didn’t belong at school. I liked that she didn’t change herself, despite Glinda’s best efforts. She stayed true to herself and stood by her convictions. I liked that one of the themes explored was that true beauty is not the conventional beauty that society portrays, rather it’s in the eye of the beholder. One of my favourite lines is when Fiyero tells Elphaba: “BUT YOU’VE GOT ME SEEING THROUGH DIFFERENT EYES”. He’s looking at her soul, her spirit, not her outward appearance, but her beauty within. He loves that she fights for what she believes in. In the end isn’t that what love is all about!?!?!? Loving the person for who they really are. Sure physical beauty may attract to the person initially but if there’s got to be a bigger connection. Elphaba shows us that it’s what on the inside that counts!!!!!

I could go on and on but I wouldn’t want to spoil it if you haven’t seen it. I definitely will be seeing this musical again and bringing my family this time.

Snow Day & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

I wanted to thank you all for your support and kind comments regarding Tuesday’s post about being beautiful and how our uniqueness makes us all beautiful. Click here to read the post and to participate in next Tuesday’s link up called “I AM BEAUTIFUL”.

We had a very busy Sunday. We woke up and celebrated Canada’s win in Men’s Hockey. We then headed out for my son’s first Hungarian Scouts Luncheon. We then came home as we had quite the dump of snow and make a snow man, had a huge snow ball fight and made snow angels. We tried to get in as much Winter fun as we could, as I doubt there will be any more snow this year. Below are pictures of our Sunday escapades.

Burgundy Cardigan, Heart Blouse & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

This is what I wore on Tuesday to run errands and to Book Club: a heart blouse, burgundy cardigan and skinny jeans. I’ve had this blouse in my closet for a while now and I was a bit stumped on different ways to wear it. I thought that the cardigan would look great with the blue and beige from the blouse. I like the way it turned out. What do you guys think?

Top (Piperlime). Cardigan (Jacob). Jeans (J Brand c/o Aritzia). Purse (Olivia & Joy). Boots (Browns). Watch (Michael Kors). Bracelets (Stella & Dot).

I know I’ve been wearing jeans a lot lately. It’s my default pant but I promise next fashion post will feature something other then my jeans.

These are the cupcakes I made for the January birthdays at the school I volunteer at.

Thanksgiving Fun & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

This past Thursday, my son’s preschool had a field trip to the pumpkin patch. Unfortunately I had to work, but my husband took him. Below are pictures of all the fun they had.

I’m sure you’ve noticed that I’ve been a bit silent on the blogging end. I have had new posts up (written earlier) but I haven’t commented on people’s blogs or thanked you all for linking up last Thursday to my weekly link up. I worked on Thursday day (12 hrs) and then on Friday night (12hrs). Between work and getting ready for family to visit for Thanksgiving, it didn’t leave me much time to blog. So apologize and I’m trying to catch up today.

We celebrated Thanksgiving this past Monday. I hosted my in-laws, brother in law, son’s god family and friends. In total 13 people. Our family is not big on Turkey (except for me), so we made a 12 lbs roast beast. You should have seen people’s reaction to this monster piece of meat at the grocery store. We had a great weekend, full of yummy food, laughter and visiting with family and friends. Below are pictures of our wonderful Thanksgiving celebration.
