Before I get to this amazing series of posts about how to build a Summer wardrobe, I wanted to thank all of you for your support. I asked you to vote and you’ve answered. In case you’re wondering what I’m talking about, on Friday I announced that voting has begun to choose Vancouver’s Top Mom Blogger and I am one of the nominees. You can vote once a week for 2 weeks. It runs from Friday May 23 until Friday June 6. All you need to do is click on this link, find Agnes Mayer, Vodka Infused Lemonade and press vote. It’s that simple. Although you can only vote once a week, you can vote for me using different devices, like your IPad, Labtop, phones and any computer you have access to. My point is please vote for me on as many devices as you can. Thank you!!!!!!!!!
Now onto my Building a Summer Wardrobe series. I know that it can be quite frustrating trying to build a Summer wardrobe, so I be featuring different items to help you build up you Summer wardrobe. The items included will be versatile, you can wear them in other seasons and I will include items at different price ranges. The point of this series is to show women, especially moms, that you can build up your wardrobe without breaking the bank.
Before you go shopping here are some helpful hints to help keep you on budget and to facilitate shopping:
- Sign up to be on the mailing list of your favourite stores. This way when they have sales, you’ll be the first to know. For instances last weekend, I received an email from Gap that their t-shirts and tank tops were on sale for $8.
- Start saving through out the year. Put $50 or even just $25 away each week into a separate account and use it only to go shopping. That way when it comes time to go shopping you don’t have to put it onto credit, you have money saved up and you don’t feel guilty.
- Make a list of items that you want to purchase. It will keep you from getting overwhelmed and when you get into the store, ask the sale associate to help you, let her know what you are looking for.
- Check out items online to give you an idea of what the store has before you go.
- Take an inventory of what you already have. There’s nothing worse than buying something you already have, ok there is, buying something that doesn’t fit you properly!!!!
- Set aside some time to go shopping and don’t take your kids. Go with a friend or just go by yourself. Get yourself a coffee and go shopping. Enjoy it. So many women say they hate shopping but try and have fun. It’s time for you to take care of yourself.
- Make a budget.
- Buying things on line can be much cheaper. If you don’t know your size go into the store, try it on and then order it on line. That’s what I do.
- End of the season is also a really good time to buy for the following year. They have amazing deals.
- Wait until what you want goes on sale, because eventually everything does, you just need to be patient and vigilant. J Crew is the perfect example. They had a gorgeous red blazer for $218. It went on sale for $149.99 and then it was an extra 50% off. Instead of paying full price at $218, I got it for $75.
- Take a look around and see if other stores carry the similar item but cheaper. It does pay to shop around.
During the week, each day I will feature different items. I will be starting from the top and working my way down. Today I will be focusing on jackets: blazers, cardigans, vests and jean jackets.
Having at least one blazer, a few cardigans, a cute jean vest and jean jacket will carry you through all four seasons. They are the perfect completer piece and are great layering pieces to have.
Old Navy- $ 36.94; Gap- $ 84.95 (40% off until May 26).
All three of these fabulous blazers are from the Gap and are 40% until the end of the day today.
