Chambray Shirt 2 Ways

A chambray top is not just for Winter/Fall. It’s the perfect top to wear as a layer over a tank top or to wear with shorts. The way I look at Chambray, it’s like a neutral piece that goes with pretty much anything in your wardrobe. Try wearing it with a skirt and heels for a night out or with leggings and over a tank top. Below are 2 ways I like to style my chambray shirt:

Chambray Shirt

Style it with a maxi skirt skirt and tank top

Chambray Shirt

Chambray Top (American Eagle). Tank Top (Gap). Skirt (J Crew). Sandals (Aldo). Purse (Fossil c/o The Bay). Bracelets (Stella & Dot). Necklace (My Name Necklace).

Style it with shorts and sandals

Chambray Shirt

Top (American Eagle). Shorts (RW & Co.). Sandals (Aldo).

As you can see a chambray shirt can be worn alone or use is as a layering piece. It’s extremely versatile and will make a great addition to your wardrobe.

May this blog inspire you to purchase a chambray shirt and see all the different outfit combinations you can come up with.

Rodent/Fly Update and Sweaters Don’t Have To Be Boring!!!!

Here is an update on our rodent and fly problem: The flies seem to be dying down, thank God!!!! Now that that problem is solved let’s move onto our furry friends. They have chewed through the wires of our car. I noticed last week that the engine light was on and told my husband. Yesterday at the dealership, they told us that the rats had chewed through the wiring. Needless to say a few hundred dollars later, neither my husband nor I are impressed. We will be dealing with our rodent problem ASAP. Good news, we placed a trap underneath our car and caught the sucker (well at least I hope it was him)!!!!

This morning after dropping my son off at preschool, I had the chance to have coffee with a friend. I can’t remember the last time I had an hour to talk to someone without being interrupted every 5 minutes. This is what I wore today. Nothing too fancy a turtleneck, skinny jeans, riding boots and my pink trench coat. It’s pouring rain again today, but they say it’s supposed to get nicer tomorrow :).

Turtleneck (J Crew). Jeans & T-Shirt (Gap). Watch (Michael Kors). Bracelets (Poshlocket). Boots (Browns).

From rodents to sweaters!!! :) Sweaters, like the title says, don’t have to be boring!!!! There are so many varieties of sweaters that they can not be described as plain, drab, dull or unexciting. They come in all shapes, sizes, colors, lengths and textures. The choices are endless. You can easily dress them up with a statement necklace or sparkles, add a colorful scarf, jacket, or cardigan. Here are my choices for “non-boring” sweaters and different ways to spruce them up:

1. Find one with a unique design on it.

Blazer & Turtleneck (R W & Co.). Jeans (Gap). Shoes (Aldo).

5. Get a sparkly sweater

Happy Tuesday Everyone!!!!

Fly Infestation, Cardigans and Slim Kicker

This is what I wore today. I love the color blocking in this sweater. The sun is shining and I thought it would be the perfect day for me to wear my cloche hat.

Sweater and Jeans (Gap). Hat (R W & Co.). Necklace (Stella and Dot). Watch (Michael Kors). Boots (Fergalicious).

We awoke Saturday morning to a least two dozen flies outside my son’s bedroom and about the same amount inside our guest bedroom. As you can well imagine, it was disgusting. My first thought was there is something dead somewhere. Well that somewhere was up on our attic. It’s been a while since my husband has been up there to check out our traps. I won’t go into graphic detail, but let’s just say he found the culprits (insert goosebumps all over my body!!!!). My husband geared up and into the attic he went to take care of business. I told him that I now believe we are even in the childbirth department. He will never give birth to a child (even if he had the choice) and I will never go up into the attic!!!!

We lay in bed Saturday night and heard our trap get tripped. Sadly, my husband had to go up again Sunday morning to find the traps empty and licked clean. The little buggers are getting smarter!!! I called Orkin yesterday, worried about our health and the guy was amazing. He told us that there is no risk to our health with all these flies, but he was concerned about the rats/mice. I will be contacting him today to see what he can do to help us with the rodent problem. I have killed so many flies this weekend that if I never see another one as long as I live, it will be too soon. My husband managed to make a few fly traps, not sure if they are working or if the flies are just dying. I don’t care as long as they are gone, because unless they are going to start contributing to my mortgage, they are not welcome in my house and that goes for any furry creature inhabiting the attic!!!!

Enough about flies, onto something warm and versatile: cardigans. I am a huge fan of cardigans. I believe I may have one in every color. They are perfect in all types of weather, great as a layering piece and can even dress up an outfit. Cardigans are great because they can hide things we want hidden!!! :) Cardigans come in every shape, size and color. Below are different types, colors and styles of cardigans.

Shrugs: Perfect to wear over a strapless dress, summer dress, spaghetti straps

Everyday cardigan: Great to wear daily, adds a pop of color to your outfit and is a great layering piece

Cardigan (H & M). Jeans (R W & Co.). T-Shirt (Gap). Shoes (Aldo). Necklace (Banana Republic).

Example of a layering piece: Layer it under a jacket

Cardigan (H & M). Jeans and Jacket (R W & Co.). T-Shirt (Gap). Shoes (Aldo). Necklace (Banana Republic).

Wear it to work

Cardigan (Jacob). Skirt (R W & Co.). T-Shirt (Gap). Boots (Nine West). Necklace (Banana Republic). Watch (Michael Kors). Bracelets (Poshlocket).

Wear it over a Chambray Shirt to add a pop of color

Cardigan (Jacob). Chambray Shirt (American Eagle). Pants (R W & Co.). Boots (Fergalicious).

Layer it over a dress

Cardigan and Dress (Gap). Shoes and Watch (Michael Kors). Belt (Jacob). Bracelet (Etsy).

Pair it with leggings for a casual look

Cardigan and T-Shirt (Gap). Leggings (Jacob). Boots (EMU). Necklace (Banana Republic). Bracelets (Stella and Dot).

Add a little sparkle to your outfit

Cardigan (R W & Co.).

Cardigans a quick and relatively cheap way to change up an outfit and to add a pop of color to it.

Last but not least I was asked recently to review a website called Slim Kicker. Slim Kicker is a free site that is personalized for your weight loss needs. It tracks your calorie intake, gives you healthy recipe ideas, allows you to set up personal goals and rewards, and connects you with other people. I’ve had a chance to review the site and it looks promising for someone who wants to lose some weight. What I find unique about this site is that it gives you a chance to put rewards in for yourself at certain intervals. I like that it’s free and that you can connect with other people who are also trying to lose some weight. They will be releasing a tracking devise in the Spring which will help you track your exercise and movements. Once I receive it, I’ll let you guys know what I think of it.

I apologize that this blog was a mishmash/hodgepodge of everything, but that’s the kind of weekend I had.

May this blog inspire you to check your attic often for furry little friends, to prevent a fly infestation, to purchase a few different cardigans to spruce up your outfits and to take a look at Slim Kicker’s site if you are interested in losing weight.

A Pre-School Halloweeen Party and “Arm Candy”

Before I begin my blog, I just want to say to all the people affected by “Superstorm Sandy” that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Like many of you, I was glued to my tv last night, and watched in horror the devastation of this storm. Please stay safe and I hope that you can all get back to normal soon.

The weather here remains wet and dreary, although it’s much warmer than yesterday. If you don’t already know this about the Lower Mainland, it pretty much rains continuously from October to May/June and this past Summer well into July!!!! This is what I wore today. Since posting last week about different ways to wear a Chambray shirt, I thought ok, now it’s time to wear my Chambray shirt, not just blog about it.

Sweater (Old Navy). Chambray Shirt (American Eagle). Pants (R W and Co). Boots (Browns).

Today is my son’s preschool’s Halloween party. I volunteered to make Halloween themed cupcakes, I couldn’t resist!!! I made them on Sunday and made a few extras for us to devour. They were amazing, even without any icing on them. I made chocolate chip pumpkin cupcakes with arms, legs and skulls made out of white chocolate and covered with swiss meringue buttercream grass. I think my son is starting to realize that his Mama is a baker. He told my husband on Sunday to leave Mama alone, so she can make the cupcakes. It was so sweet. He calls himself the “cookie and cupcake monster”!!!! He is definitely both of them!!! Below are pictures of Halloween cupcakes Aiden took to preschool today.

If you are wondering why there are no pictures of my son dressed up in his Halloween costume, that’s because he doesn’t want to wear one. He is totally into Halloween, right down to yelling “trick-or-treat” and “boo” at the top of his lungs, he just simply refuses to wear a costume. So until it bothers him, my husband and I are just going with it.

So what is “arm candy”? My definition is playing dress up with your jewelry. Remember when you were a kid and you put on your mom’s dress, shoes and hat, well imagine that but on your wrist. Many people choose to showcase their “arm candy” along side their watch. I choose not to as I don’t want to scratch my watch, plus it gets quite bulky on your wrist. There are no rules or right or wrong ways of wearing “arm candy”. It’s all about mixing and matching metals, colors, textures and styles. Below are 4 looks that I put together from my collection.

Look #1: A Casual Look

Bracelets from Stella and Dot

Look #2: Everyday. I wear this one all the time

Bracelets (Stella and Dot, Poshlocket).

Look #3: Dressy

Bracelets (Stella and Dot, Etsy, Stella and Dot, Poshlocket).

Look #4: A fun one

Bracelets (R W and Co., Stella and Dot, Coach, Aldo).

As you can see, it’s all about having fun with your bracelets. For look #4 I just haphazardly grabbed bracelets and put them together. Not sure if I actually would wear look #4 but it was fun putting it together.

May this blog inspire you to help victims of this storm, to get geared up for Halloween and to put together your own “arm candy”.

Happy Halloween Eve Everyone!!!!

Different Ways to Wear a Chambray Shirt

It was back to normal in our household today. I think the day of rest we had yesterday did wonders for both my husband and son. I on the other hand feel even more tired. This illness is exhausting!!! I recently got a Tippi sweater in Oxblood from J. Crew. Absolutely love it. I wore it today with jeans and my booties. Perfect day for wearing a sweater.

Jacket (R W & Co.). Sweater ( J. Crew). Jeans (Gap). Scarf (Jacob). Boots (Fergalicious).

For the past two days I’ve been wanting to blog about different ways of wearing a Chambray shirt, just haven’t had the time. So today my blog is all about the Chambray Shirt. What is a Chambray Shirt? Chambray is a type of fabric that resembles a jean.

This is a Chambray Shirt

What I love about it, is its versatility. I basically look at a Chambray shirt as a neutral shirt, which can be paired with just about anything in your closet. It’s also a great layering piece that can be worn all year round. Below are different ways of wearing the Chambray Shirt.

A casual look: Wearing it under a sweater with a jean skirt and boots

Skirt and Sweater (Gap). Chambray Shirt (American Eagle). Boots (EMU).

A Work look: Wearing it with red skirt, cardigan and boots

Cardigan (Jacob). Skirt (Gap). Chambray Shirt (Amercian Eagle). Boots (Browns)

Style it underneath a dress. Thanks to Tara (Mix & Match Fashion) and Marie-Eve (A Pretty Nest) for the inspiration :)

Dress (Gap). Chambray Shirt (American Eagle). Boots (Browns).

Wear it with burgundy pants and add a pop of color with a yellow cardigan

Jeans (R W & Co). Cardigan (Jacob). Chambray Shirt (American Eagle). Boots (Fergalicious).

Wear it layered under a sweater with red cropped pants and ballet flats

Sweater (Old Navy). Pants (Gap). Chambray Shirt (American Eagle). Shoes (Aldo).

Pair it with white pants and a 3 yr year old :) ( My son wanted to be in the picture :))

Chambray Shirt (American Eagle). Pants (Gap). Shoes (Aldo).

Sweater (Jacob). Chambray Shirt (American Eagle). Jeans (Gap). Boots (Fergalicious).

Hairdresser Therapy and Different Ways to Wear Your EMU boots

Yesterday I went to get my hair cut, hence why my hair is straight in all my pictures today. My appointment was at 6:30. My hairdresser didn’t start washing my hair until 7:15, because we were too busy talking and catching up. I have to say that she is the cheapest therapist out there. Every 6 weeks, I go in for a hair cut and get to de-stress. Sometimes she even serves me wine. It’s amazing. I keep telling her that if she ever moves away, “our” divorce will be nasty (just kidding, well sort of :)). Not only is she fantastic at what she does, she is a good listener and is a great sounding board, allowing you to bounce your ideas and thoughts off of her. So every 6 weeks, I get to have a breather from life and from my son, and I get to de-clutter my brain. When I leave her, not only am I physically lighter but also mentally. Is your hair dresser your therapist?

This is what I wore today. I love this green cardigan because it gives me some color without it being overwhelming, and on this dreary Fall day, I need some!!

Cardigan (H & M). Shirt and Jeans (Gap). Boots (Browns). Necklace (Banana Republic). Bracelet (Stella and Dot). Watch (Michael Kors).

A quick update on my health is that my meds are working!!! I am still in pain but it’s more or less manageable. My specialist said it will take me 2 months to fully recover and I’m going on week #4 of this. I wanted to thank everyone for their kind comments and well wishes for a speedy recovery. I wish that I was back to normal but I’m not. Some days I act like I am and then I pay for it later. I’m hoping that by Christmas I will be back to my old self :).

This past Saturday I won a pair of EMU boots from my friend and blogger, Lori (she blogs on Half Baked Banana Bread). I’m so excited!!! I don’t win much, so I was super surprised when she called me. I joked with her that if I win the boots, I’ll blog about it. So here it is, different ways to wear your EMU/UGG Boots. Here is a picture of my boots:

Look #1- Ski/Snow Bunny

Jacket (Eddie Bauer). Sweater and Jeans (R W and Co.). Boots (EMU).

Look #2- Running errands

Sweater and Skirt (Gap). Chambray shirt (American Eagle). Boots (EMU).

Look #3- Lounging around

Sweater (Jacob). Jeans and Shirt (Gap). Boots (EMU).

I am really looking forward to wearing them this Fall and Winter. I have a feeling I’ll be getting lots of good use out of them. Remember boots aren’t just for skiing, you can pair them like I did with a skirt and leggings. How many different ways can you wear your boots?

May this blog inspire you to find good, healthy ways to de-stress and to see how many different ways you can wear your Winter boots.

Happy Tuesday Everyone!!! :)
