I was so excited last week when it looked as though Spring had arrived, that I decided to take out my jean jacket and flats. The weather still required some layering of a cardigan under the jean jacket and a scarf, but it was starting to give me some hope. Well as I sit and write this post, it’s pouring rain, so no Spring like warm weather. God I hope it’s coming!!!

Fun With The Ladies & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

Last Saturday a few of my girlfriends and I headed out for a girl’s night out. It was 3 months in the making, thanks to my shift work. We had an amazing time!!!!! I laughed so hard, my stomach still hurt on Sunday. Cotton candy was a big theme at this restaurant and after a few drinks, I decided to style some of the cotton candy as a hat. Anyways enjoy the pictures. You can see that as the night progressed and more drinks were consumed, my smile got bigger :).

High Tea, Downton Abbey & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

Last Friday night I hosted High Tea with a good friend to celebrate the season finale of Downton Abbey. We made smoke salmon sandwiches, cucumber sandwiches, both with the crusts cut off, home made scones with clotted cream, sausage rolls, mini puff pastry hors d’oeuvres, Prosecco and Earl Grey tea. Thank goodness the food and company were both amazing, because gotta say, I love Downton Abbey, but the season finale was a bit anti climactic. Not sure though that I should complain, I don’t think my heart could take another death! Yes I decorated the house for St. Patrick’s day. My son loves the house decorated, I couldn’t resist, plus the Dollar Store has such cute things. I ended up changing out of my dress because I ate way too much. Such good food

I wanted to thank you all for your support and kind comments regarding Tuesday’s post about being beautiful and how our uniqueness makes us all beautiful. Click here to read the post and to participate in next Tuesday’s link up called “I AM BEAUTIFUL”.

We had a very busy Sunday. We woke up and celebrated Canada’s win in Men’s Hockey. We then headed out for my son’s first Hungarian Scouts Luncheon. We then came home as we had quite the dump of snow and make a snow man, had a huge snow ball fight and made snow angels. We tried to get in as much Winter fun as we could, as I doubt there will be any more snow this year. Below are pictures of our Sunday escapades.

Valentine’s Day, Birthday Fun & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

Last Friday, Feb 14, kicked off a weekend of celebration. Friday was Valentine’s Day and Saturday was my husband’s birthday. Traditionally we get a heart shaped pizza for Valentine’s Day and this year was no different. We had a lot of fun. We started the day off by exchanging gifts. We all had chocolates on the brain :). So I’ve been a bit distracted lately and have been battling computer problems, hence less posts. Anyways I’m hoping that my computer problems are fixed. I noticed that this week I hadn’t planned a co-host. Not sure how that happened, but I guess me being distracted hasn’t helped. Like many of you, I’m trying to juggle everything. Got lots of reading to do for work and a cupcake order for the beginning of March, plus just trying to do every day things and planning a couple of trips for the Fall has kept my brain quite occupied and distracted. I know it’s been radio silence over here the past few days. I worked Saturday night (was miserable, spent Sunday recovering), Monday was a holiday (Family Day), Tuesday was errand day ( I was gone pretty much all day) and then all of a sudden it was Wednesday. I can’t believe it’s already Thursday and the middle of February!!!! Seriously where has this year gone?!?!?!? I’ll be back with regular posts next week, I promise :)!!!!

This is what I wore yesterday: a simple brown tunic style sweater, skinny jeans, boots and a rose gold necklace. Like I wrote in previous posts, I’m trying hard to stay on my shopping freeze, therefore I’m rediscovering items that I’ve had in my closet but haven’t worn in a while.

Girl’s Date: High Tea & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

Last weekend was filled with lots of visiting with friends. My friend and I had to postpone our High Tea girl’s date a month ago and reschedule for last Saturday. What a wonderful treat!!!!!!! It was so nice to sit, talk, and eat without being interrupted, without having to tell the other person to stop talking and to eat. It was a very nice treat. We enjoyed yummy tea, delicious mini sandwiches, scones and desserts. If you’ve never been, grab a couple of girlfriends and make a reservation. You will love it. We went to the Fairmont and it’s my third time having High Tea at one of their hotels and each time the experience was amazing. My first experience was probably the most memorable seeing as I just found out I was pregnant and had horrible morning sickness. I couldn’t really enjoy any of it. This is what I wore on Tuesday to run errands and to Book Club: a heart blouse, burgundy cardigan and skinny jeans. I’ve had this blouse in my closet for a while now and I was a bit stumped on different ways to wear it. I thought that the cardigan would look great with the blue and beige from the blouse. I like the way it turned out. What do you guys think?

Impromptu Coffee Date & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

This Sunday I had plans to go for High Tea with a good friend, but she and her family were sicker than dogs this week so that had to be postponed. Instead my husband decided to get a sitter and we headed to the mall for an impromptu coffee date. It’s extremely rare that we ever get a chance to run errands just the two of us. What a nice treat. We got coffee and had something to eat at the food court, and then we just putzed around the mall. I took a look at some cameras as in the Spring we will be purchasing a new one!!!! I can’t wait for a camera that takes better, faster pictures. Then we headed grocery shopping, exciting, yes I know, but hey any parents out there will understand how nice it is to just get groceries in peace. Anyways that was our date, although short, it was still nice to just have a few hours to ourselves. Below is what I wore. I’m absolutely in love with this quilted purse from J Crew. It reminds me of Chanel, but much more affordable. ( I apologize for how tired I look in these pictures. These were taken on Monday after a rather challenging end to Sunday.)

Little Blue Dress & Tres-Chic Fashion Thursday Link Up

My husband bought me this beautiful, strapless, little blue dress for Christmas. Poor guy was a nervous wreck giving it to me. He prefaced giving it to me by saying “I’ve never bought you anything like this before!!” and then he launched into this explanation about how he knows that the size he got me is too big and that he didn’t want to offend me, but that the girl at Jacob told him that it fits small. I just about melted. It was so sweet. Poor guy, the anxiety it caused him and for nothing. Yes, the dress was a size too big, but that’s because I need bigger boobs, otherwise the dress would have fit me perfectly. The girls at Jacob were super helpful when he bought the dress and they kindly let me exchange it for the right size. Gotta say it takes guts to buy a woman a dress. Although the dress was a bit too big, he did well and has amazing taste.

I was so excited about the dress that I wore it for Christmas dinner, New Year’s Eve and most recently for a girl’s night.
